Viking weight question

I have a Viking in 19 oz, i unscrewed the butt cap and looked inside with a led light and saw a screw in there. Am i to assume that its a weight bolt or something of that nature ?
Reason im asking is im giving it to someone as a gift but they like a lighter cue in the 17 to 18 oz range. Can i unscrew the weight in there now and replace it with a lighter one or would taking it out totally bring it to the desired weight ?
Thanks for any and all help.

Yes, that's a weight bolt.

There is no practical way to tell how heavy the weight bolt is without taking it out.

You can just take it out and see.

There is some chance that the bolt is holding the butt cap on, especially if it is a Delrin butt cap on an old cue.

If it's a newer Viking model, the weight bolt is 1/2oz. If it's a 19oz cue, taking out both bolts will make it roughly 18oz.
