Is that a push in bumper? And add photo of the bottom with the bumper removed. It may help

Thank you for your help. I just updated the post to include the photos you mentioned.
When you removed the rubber bumper from the cue butt-looks like there is a flat, steel washer inside...see if you can also remove the flat, steel washer too, thereby exposing what type of weight bolt is installed in the cue....
Cue is possibly a Jerry Rauenzahn cue

Taiwan import forearm, it's a generic Adam style cue

You grabbed a nice $80 cue here, I was admiring it online myself

Dude, no, the thin aluminum ring in the collar screams "Made in Asia and sold at Kmart"

I appreciate all feedback good or bad. Just letting you know I didn't buy this online. I made a local deal in Austin Texas with an old man who has had this cue in his ownership since at least 1987.

I dont believe I hit the lottery here. Either way, I am seeking information. If it's that old and in this shape I may have it refinished and use it as a player.

Added the photo you mentioned to the original post.

Can you tell if the ferrule material is natural or synthetic? It kind of looks synthetic in the picture but also kind of looks like it might have grain. Hard to tell.

I realize ferrules can be changed. But *most* people won't go through the expense of putting an expensive ferrule on a cheap cue.

It appears to be natural. I'm taking it to my local pool room this evening to meet with my buddy who knows cues and is a cu maker himself. I bet he can tell me more. Thanks man!

It's a "fiber" ferrule from the 80s

I used to own the same cue, and typically doll these up for a local league player with a fresh ferrule and modern layered tip. Great basic cue

No kidding. It looks to be relatively well made. I will say now that I'm looking at it on my home monitor it does look like there's some blue that has bled into the natural in the veneers. Regardless, as long as it's straight and hits decent, I'd clean that bad boy up, maybe consider a new ferrule and tip, and play the hell out of it.

Cue out of Texas....
possibly a Verl Horn cue....
"He used Prather points....
I saw Many of that color scheme in Mike Betts shop.
Mike was a Tulsan,
Mike Learned cue making from Verl.
Send your pics to jeff at Prather cues-
He will probably confirm what I am saying here

Taiwan Blue and Orange special, they sold these cues at Kmart and elsewhere. Not knocking it but that should establish the value

Judging from the quality linen wrap, the nice shaft wood, the real ferule, the style of the but cap, the style of the bumper I would not guess Asian import. the joint looks like some one touched it up with a rattle can. Is that a Derlin but cap?

It's possible, but it looks like that other plastic

The buttsleeve is split, I bet there is a square wood dowel hammered in there
