Visiting Manhattan Sunday through Wednesday. If anyone can recommend good places to shoot or if you want to hit a few, get in touch!

Cheers,

Do not expect much. There are no pool rooms better then mediocre in Manhattan. Nowhere has clean equipment, room to shoot, room for your stuff and a nice bathroom that I have found and I've try all the ones talked up here.

You can check Amsterdam Billiards on the West Side, around 76th Street

Or you can check out Corner Billiards, 11th Street and 4th Avenue.

Checked out Broadway today and hit a few... nice place, low-key, quiet. And not too expensive

Corner seemed a little high-end for me. nice place, but not quite my style. However, if anyone wants a practice partner I"m more than willing to play.

Tomorrow I'll check out Amsterdam.

Any other suggestions?

Well if you take the subway down to brooklyn, theres always skyline and action on n; two halls that i go to. Fairly cheap too.

More than a few times SJM has invited or been invited and has played at Amsterdam Billiards with az'ers. He even volunteers paying the time which is one of the most generous offers he gives to strangers he may or may not end up liking. Not saying he will do this with you but pm him, as he obviously has not seen this thread yet. And that other poster said there are no rooms in Manhattan worth there salt is crazy. Amsterdam is a great room and this comes from a fussy Calfornian that owns a room.
Have a great time, I did.
P.S.
They did not have any brandy though. Bummer

Sounds good. I'll check out Amsterdam today. Hopefully Monday rates will be less expensive than weekend rates.

What room in Cali do you own?

Last time I was in town I had an hour or two to shoot, and I went to Slate on I think it was 21st street or so, a couple blocks West of broadway. I thought it was pricey and geared more toward social gatherings than serious pool, but they had clean equipment, plenty of room, and nice facilities.

When Iwent there, the tables were gross and the ball mismatched and the help couldnt even tell or care that the balls were mismatched.

Well, I guess either they made some changes between when you went there and when I went there, or maybe it just depends which table you get.
