Visiting the pool rooms

Enjoy snooping through my life :ROFLMAO: While I am not a gambler by any means, I love catching the vibe and character of the pool halls and people during trips. Don't know if anyone has looked in their map data (specifically Google Maps for me) to see the places they visit. You can see literally every place you take you phone to and spend time in. Pretty neat feature as long as you have your location on.

I have data going back 8 years it looks like. 1,373 total places, of the 70 Sports places I have visited, 95% are pool halls.

Many of those dots for me are work trips, and all of those involve heading to some pool hall/bar to play in and meet the people (the ones by Vegas are USAPL Nationals and my son's Junior Nationals trips), quite a few places include meeting people from AZB or just random people I meet and played with over a few days that I keep in touch with. It's a bit hard to zoom in well to show all the places without a bunch of screenshots but it's a neat overall view of what we as humans do in the modern age.

I'm not much concerned about keeping my whereabouts secret so my location is always on, helps with geotagging pictures and I find it a lot of fun going through my trips and memories. I mean who the F cares that someone knows you been to a Target for 20 minute when it comes down to everything else that goes on in life and the world.

I think I may be most of the ones in Ohio. lol Always good meeting with you and shooting some pool or watching pros at a Predator event.

I do the same with tracking my geo location. It’s nice to be able to pull up a given day and see where I was and the corresponding pictures.

I looked at the same and seems that the places I go may be labeled a bit different. Griff’s is marked as a “Sports Bar” instead of “Pool Hall” so I don’t have nearly as ‘nice’ of a map for the pool places.

Plenty of states to still visit.

I think all the pool halls are categorized as "Sports". You can also manually edit your info to add notes to each place if you want to specify what a pool hall is vs a bar vs some other sport thing like a stadium. I was down your way in Nashville not long ago, just a few months.

I work at BJs Wholesale Club, part of a team that does new club openings, so all the tags are around our new clubs that I worked at opening.

Some powerful tools we have, and most of us probably never peek at them.

I have to check that out, thanks. Not sure how exactly

Oddly enough, the phone app has more functionality than the full Google Maps on a computer browser.
Open Maps, click on your profile icon/picture on the top right, select "Your Timeline". From there up top you see your Day / Trips / Insights which is basically your overall stats like your miles driven for a set period, your Visits, Shopping, etc... / Places / Cities / World.

You can re-create your travel for any day, any week, any month, etc.. down to how long you spent pooping at a rest stop in Idaho in 2020.

I would love to see your info, Mr Attending Every Tournament :)
I don't visit that many pool rooms, but in my life, I've spent some time in forty two of the fifty states. The ones I've missed are Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Hawaii, North Dakota, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

In Europe, I've been to England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. I've also been to Canada, Israel. Jordan, Monaco, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.

Like you, I get around!

Well I've been in all 50 states but have missed some of your international ones. I've done some Asia and quite a few European countries as well.
I found a great pool hall in Rome, that I used to play in while my wife was working (she was Italian and living in Rome at the the time) Now at an older age I rarely get out of the Bay Area these days.

Sounds like you get around, too. Thanks for sharing.

Like you, I've occasionally found a great poolroom overseas. I recall a superb one I visited in Amsterdam, Netherlands in the early 1980s. In the general case, though, I haven't shot much pool overseas other than in the pubs of England.
