VNEA Vegas Story

I thought this story was pretty funny when told to me. Years ago, two acquaintances I know were playing in the open team tournament against a team from Germany. Of course we know there is no coaching allowed and that is a foul. Well the guys from Germany started coaching a little and when nothing was said it escalated. By the end of the match thier whole team was in on it (coaching.)

The German team ended up loosing. So both teams went out for hand shakes and both of the acquaintances I spoke of greeted them in fluent German. The Germans jaws dropped!

I asked the acquaintances if they would have called foul or not. They answered, "I don't know, they never got close enough that we had to think it was an option!

My daughter studied at the University of Freiburg, became very fluent and teaches German in HS. A parent complained to the principal about the grade that her daughter got. She said that she didn't understand it because German is the language that they speak at home. My daughter was called into the office to defend herself. She spoke to the mother in German and the lady didn't understand a word. The mother got up and left saying if isn't over and she will take it to the next step. What really added insult to injury was when my daughter said to the student she didn't' realize that she was German. The girl said she is not German she is a mix everything like most Americans are.

Vegas or Bust

I leave for Vegas in 3 days for the VNEA team event. Probably going to get a lot of sight seeing in.
