Anyone have some info on the V-tek silencer plate on the predator revo shafts? Anyone know the material or something similar to it can send me in the right direction would be great. I just was told that they will not replace the actual vault plate If ever needed, my red plate had popped off a long time ago. I don't want to use fiber pad.

To my knowledge, the only place you can get the Vulcanized pad is Predator.
Another company once sold them but that has stopped.
Predator wants control of them.

Would it be a feasible/functional "fix," for a Cue-Maker to fashion a thin cap/plate/disc, from some form of phenolic, or Micarta?

Good morning
*Personal opinion*
I think people will do what ever they decide to do to get them past an obstacle. In this case, it will void the Warranty and the Customer should be informed of that before it's done.
Which material in your opinion would work best to best to be the closest to the original pad, Thinking of just getting a rod and making myself one for my revo. Micata? Phenolic? Vulcanized Fiber?

Revo shafts are exspensive. Predator invested years into research and developement.
I think,
you should send the shaft to them. Protect your investment.

Ive already done enough with modifications to two cynergy shafts and my current revo, Things are fine. Just was curious on your opinion on materials. But thank you anyway.

It is basically a red/brownish phenolic pad that is very thin. IMO, you could even use a fiber pad, as it is only used to quiet the 'ping' sound, which even with their 'secret sauce' pad...still makes an unpleasent sound.

On a normal wood shaft I doubt it makes much difference and I'm not entirely sure a normal fiber pad wouldn't work on CF. If I personally had a CF shaft I wouldn't hesitate to use something different - being fully aware it may damage the shaft, but there's no better way to learn ;)

If you decide to go with the original V-tek pad I have a couple left and once those are gone I will be ordering more so no hurry ;)

Can you confirm that's the case for Predator?

Meaning, I've always known, in general, pads to prevent splitting of soft ferrules and I'm curious if that doesn't play some sort of role in their use of this particular material, i.e. damage prevention? I would think if it was "ping" only ("One ping only" - what movie is that from!) they would be more accepting to different materials being used.

Either it truly is a special piece of material or they just want you to think that so you keep buying them :)

Red October?

If you repair Predator products, just play their game. If another material makes a difference isn't really the issue, Predator will void any warranty claims if the Vtek pad is missing or replaced with a non-Predator product..
Fortunately Predator now sells the Vtek pads, the first 18 months, getting a replacement was almost impossible.

I haven't looked recently, are they selling them individually now or still in lots of 10?

EDIT: If still in lots of 10 then I'll keep buying them as I sell out, hopefully I will have an online marketplace by EOY to make it easier for everyone involved :)

It was still lots of 10 two weeks ago.
