That is some very nicely figured walnut. I see some pieces that would make spectacular forearms and/or handles. Is walnut a tad too light to use in a forearm w/o the right kind of points to add weight back?
I've seen some Taylor guitars of Claro Walnut that were just astounding to look at - obviously great tone.
The figure in these is awesome, especially for $4 apiece, but they are only 10" long so I will be using them in segmented butts/handles and for points. That means coring, I plan using either purpleheart or jatoba for core dowels for a heavier butt and maple for the lighter ones.
