Chris Hightower/Cueman Billiards at www.Cuesmith.com is a great resource. I have his equipment and have been very happy with the equipment as well as his technical support. You will get away cheaper if you only intend to buy final-turn shafts and add collars/ferrules/tips rather than turning shaft blanks from dowels. Otherwise, it gets expensive in a hurry. I got into the world of cuebuilding 5+ years ago. Over this time, I've probably invested $10K+ in equipment, tooling, materials, etc., and I only have one lathe (from Chris), a second-hand table saw, a second-hand band saw, and minimal wood stock. Once you venture above doing tips and shaft conditioning, it gets expen$ive in a hurry.
