I'm looking for a stainless steel or brass arbor/ driver set for 3/8-11 thread..for south west.

My aluminum one broke..and looking for something more durable.

send pm.

thanks

I spin the shaft (for finish work) using an 11 thrd pin.
The female arbor is made from phenolic rod.
They're easy enough to make if you have the tap.
I could cut one for you, I'm just wondering how you broke the alum. one.

learning experience..

I broke the aluminum one by accident. I put the shaft onto the arbor..but forgot to lock the tail stock...as someone once told me they were able to replace a tip that way.

once i turned on the lathe at 2400 rpm..I forgot to keep my hand on the shaft and it spun so hard that it ripped out of the lathe breaking the arbor in the process.

Lessons learned...

Either way Atlas is out of them. and now i want a stainless steel one.

I'm trying to wrap my head around why you would try and replace a tip using anything close to the method you describe.

I'm also wondering how bad the shaft ended up if you whipped it around hard enough to destroy an aluminum maintenance arbor.

Lessons learned hard are lessons learned well....
