Something like in the pictures, except half the length. What I currently have has a 2 inch threaded section & weighs .98 oz. Basically want a 1 inch threaded section at about .5 oz.

Take that pin to a hardware store. They should have one like what you are looking for.

Believe it or not I have exhausted all of the hardware stores in my area to no avail.

Have you tried Prather? I bought a 3/8 weight bolt from them for my Schon; aluminum, 0.35 oz. although the length is 2-3". They were very helpful with my order.

Just sent them an e-mail, thanks for the idea!!!

Sometimes your hardware store will not label the bolt as 3/8". Some stores labelled them by the length. You bolt shoud be 3/8"x16.
You can also check your phone book for some local stores that sell fasteners, they are specialist with this kind of things.
You can also buy a long rod, 3/8", and then saw it up on a vise to the length you want. Use a saw to make a notch at the end so you can use your screw driver to turn it in. That way, you can experiment bolts with different length without the hassel of paying shipping and paying for bolts you may not need. A long rod like that is really cheap.

they call them machine screws,,,may come with straight slot (like yours) or Phillips head,,,,hope that's some help

That should be a standard "pan head" machine screw. You can probably order it from McMaster-Carr or at least type in "Machine Screw" in the search box of the site to see the description.

If all else fails, you can also cut the one you have.

I'll look around my local hardware store here and pick up a few different lengths for you if you'd like. The head may not look exactly like what you have, but would thread in regardless. Is the thread & pitch 3/8 x 16 as Richard states?

Let me know,
Craig

Thanks for the reply Craig.

From what I gather this afternoon doing research on the bolt/machine screw is that what I have is a 2 inch 3/8 X 16 Slotted Round Head Machine Screw.

Now the one I have cannot be cut down because it is being used in another cue & I used it just for example purposes. Also the cue that I'm wanting the bolt for is only threaded for about an inch, so I'm kinda limited to that length & subsequent weight which is fine simply because I'm only looking to increase the weight about a half an ounce.

I have a few inquiries in to some places, if that doesn't work out I'll get back with you.

Thanks again for your help.

I've just gone through the same thing and came up with a couple of solutions. The weight bolt in mine is a 3/8th-16 modified flat-head. A normal flat-head screw has a bigger diameter head, so they won't fit unless you turn down the head.

But, the hole that it went into is a counter-bore, so a standard socket cap screw (allen head bolt) works in mine. {edit: just checked your photo. yours isn't a standard weight bolt}

Now, that being said, I have another cue that I wanted to add weight. The bumper threads into a tapped hole, and lo and behold, it too is 3/8ths-16. So, I added weight by using two 3/8ths-16 set screws. Using two, you can lock them into place. I think the repeated blows will hold (crossed fingers).

Hi, Put it in a vice, cut off about half the threads, file off the sharp edge, re-install.

Just noticed the part about it being used in another cue. What kind of cue is it for?

I have one I had made, it fits my schon, and has a screw hole in middle so that it holds the bumper on also, it is made out of aluminum, I payed a guy 20 bucks for 2, he made them by hand, took several hours, is lighter then the stainless, pm me if your interested.
