Wanted: deflation of custom cue prices!

I agree with the internet being able to spread the word in a lot quicker fashion. But I don't believe it immediately gives a new cuemaker a waiting list. New cuemakers don't get flooded with orders because of the internet. Do you buy cues from guys that just "pop" up out of nowhere? They still have to in a sense pay their dues, sometimes a new cuemaker can get a little lift hooking

I tend to agree with Joe about that.
Buyers are wary of new cuemakers and the fact that someone established in the business thinks the work is worthy of its price gives the buyer a feeling of value.
It is very hard to sell cues on the internet unless you are pricing them well below what they are worth. Everyone expects a steal not a deal.
However, a new cuemaker trying to get his work in the hands of players might be willing to sell cues at a loss just to get them out there.
I know one cuemaker that has even given them away. :o
The buyer needs to know which is a good buy and which is not.
That is where a trusted, well known dealer with a good reputation can be of great value to the cuemaker and the cue buyer.
