A friend of mine wants to buy a lathe just for shafts. He doesn't intend to make cues he just wants something he can use to install tips & ferrules and clean shafts. Any ideas?

Search the "ask the cuemaker section." This is discussed there semi-often.

I bought a Unique Cue Companion a few months ago and am pleased with it over all. I was also considering Chris Hightower's Mid-Size Cuesmith and think his machine would have been a good choice too. A cheaper option is to buy a wood lathe from Harbor Freight and adapt it for tips/maintenance purposes.

I have a nice lathe I made out of a mini lathe.. It will do tips and ferrules.. clean shafts and rewrapp cues.. If interested let me know.. It's 3/4 hp with automatic feed plus it has forward and reverse.. Comes with a tool bit stand that holds four cutting tools. Has live center and concave center..
Works great..

Where are you guys.. It will be expensive to ship probably..

Thank you

Martin, thanks for the brand & the search suggestions. I will research them all.

Spanky981, we both live in Fort Collins, CO. If you could find out shipping cost and let me know what you're asking for your lathe, that would be great.

DatonaJoe, Have not received your PM. Please try again or post your info on this thread.

Thanks to all that have replied so far.

Hey Dave,

You might try Emilio ?. You probably met him around Denver sometime. He is a relatively new cuemaker who is also into creating lathes for cuemaking. You might talk to him about making a lathe for you're friend.

Regards,
Doug

If you need his number pm me.
