Wanted Veneer Press

I think I'd look for a cast iron one over that wooden one. I crank mine down as tight as I can possibly get it.

Thanks for all the info. I have a press lined up. Again, thank you to all those helpful links and PM's that were sent.

I was out bid on a few iron book presses in the last couple weeks if anyone has a veneer press or a lead on something suitable PM me :)

Has any one Made their own? I was considering try to build one using steel for My frame, and maybe bolting and/or welding it up.

I would need to get some ground flat pieces. Those I was thinking about trying to find locally, but trying to remember where I saw the screw sets for these at. I'm wondering If anyone has any links to the screw setups? I've seen them before, just don't remember where at this time.

Also any tips on how many screw sets I should use? Is one enough to get the job done, or should I shoot for more.

I thought about using airbags or something like that, but the cost was more then I was willing to commit to right now.

I've bid on the cast iron presses in the past, and the same thing, even I was outbid, or they went for so much that by the time I paid shipping, It would have been very costly. Add the price of them possibly needing regrinded, and that only added to the cost.

Thanks:)

Joe, you should make some up and resell them. Might be a good money maker.

There were a few offered at the expo last year made by TNS, Very well made to I might add and I expected them to go like hot cakes, but under today's cost of living and material prices, Very tough action. Even finding one a flea bay, If you win, shipping is not cheap. I bought two and it was cheaper to drive 3 hours each way than it was to ship. About 100 lbs. each.

That's A nice setup Pete, Thank You for sharing. I like that the frame comes with it.

Here's one that rockler was selling for 17.95, but I just noticed on their site that they are oversold on them right now, Guess that means out of stock.
