Warning Signs of Billiardism

Pool is way of life. Everything I do. is so I can play more pool. I have job in morning another at night. That is So I can play, as meny hours as I can, during the day. It's something I need to do, Been that way since I was 13. Not to mention a cue nut as well!!

You guys are right when you use the word addiction. That's certainly what makes you come back for more!

It’s in me,

Not on me

It’s not a passing hobby or fad for me. When I was 5 and saw my first barbox I remember it well. The colors-the orange 5. Green cloth. I knew it was something I liked-my mom told me I was too young. She was right. But the fascination was there.

Pools been a part of my life my whole life. The years I didn’t play I was around pool, or read about it, or something. Pools not been out of the picture for me-ever. Playing hasn’t been a continuous thing. But pool has been a constant in one form or another for me my whole life.

Can’t change how I’m wired. Some people understand that. Most don’t. The “hobby”’people don’t get it and come & go over the years. I’ve watched them disappear plenty of times. The lifers are a small % and they know. Takes one to know one.

Sure I have other interests and do other things, but deep down pool is #1. Period

I'm with ya fatboy, apart from a 6 month break in 2015. When I played snooker. As I was just burnt-out. And I lost my table. Just Needed a change. But after about a month, guess what I started thinking about pool again. So it's never been far from my thoughts.

The thrill of playing someone who should be streets ahead of you. And you beat them. Just makes you work herder and strive get better. I love playing matches.you can't replicate the pressure of a match environment. It's also social thing as well. I can talk pool all day. Im never happy unless, I'm thinking of ways I can improve. It's great when it comes off. But it's a hell of lot of work!!

Justin, here. Started as a recreational user with my dad and some local players. Tried the pro scene as a fan and did a few tournaments and leagues. Any times I open a bottle with a cap I think about how to keep my stroke straight and not touch the edges.

Its hard to tell when a woman is interested because I think they are sharking me during my shot.
I want to be a recreational pool time dealer with the local youth, but they are more interested in playing on their phone.

Took a few years off to get my education and non-pool related career started. Sacrificed a lot of pool time and possible titles. After seeing matchroom payouts I am convinced I made the wrong choice.

It’s never easy.

Recently I’ve been doing pretty good on rail bets. However for a while I couldn’t win a bet.

Same for playing. Improving is a long road, betting better at what ever goal is a process for everyone. I like that road.

No its not easy.its certainly a long road. Over time you learn from your mistakes.
It's just about your application. And time on the table. Attitude is a big thing too. Knowing when you've completely out played. And just saying, we'll done to the guy. No point getting angry, at anyone. There will always be another game!!

Getting beat by luck is more painful than losing to skill

I’ve had my nuts shot off plenty of times-well played.

When someone shits in the $ ball in a $5,000 race hill/hill that hurts. And yes that’s happened to me plenty of times. I’ve done it too. It evens out.

What I’ve learned after so many years of betting and swings is, don’t get to excited by the wins, or upset by the losses. Keep an even keel. Anything can happen, just stay in action. Same in biz for that matter as a biz man-that’s what I do. I win, cool. I lose-on to the next one.

Edit: if I won the $2,000,000,000 lottery the other day. I wouldn’t be following my own advice as noted above. Anything over a Billion-I’m going bat shit off the rails. Anything under a billion-meh…..
