Warped Shaft

So I have been playing with my current shaft for about 6 months but had it made about 9 months ago. I was playing in a tournament yesterday and I just wasnt playing good. I was just thinking I was having an off day. After the tournament I was practicing with a friend and for some reason it felt really weird when I was stroking. So I rolled my cue and it had a bad wobble. Now this cue would roll dead straight before. I took off the shaft and rolled the butt and the cue seperately. Both seem to roll straight but put together they don't. It is obviously the shaft because I put the cue together and layed the joint on the rail and rolled it and the shaft wobbles in the air. I take really good care of my cues and never had this problem. I never leave my cue in the car and it is always stored indoors. I dont know why it just all of a sudden warped.

Check the joint faces...

If each piece rolls flat when they are apart, it sounds like you may have picked up some debris on one or both sides of the joint. Check both surfaces for any dirt that may have gotten on the surfaces. Hopefully all you need to do is clean them off. If possible, take the cue over to your local cue repair shop and have them check it. Maybe all it needs is a cleaning cut on the faces of the joint. Hope it is just some dirt, good luck.

warped shaft?

if the shaft rolls straight when apart you may have a bad Ajoint in your cue,many cue makers are going to full slice cues to eliminate this problem.

If the cue and shafts roll straight apart and wobbles when together, there are only three things that could cause the problem.

1. Dirty joint like another poster said, not likely though if it rolling that bad.

2. Either the joint facing of the shaft or the butt is off which only requires a re-facing of the joint. Easy fix, not expensive, can be done by any good cue repairman.

3. Last, it is also possible that the cues Pin is not straight or the shaft insert was not made staright. If this is the problem, it will be a little more expensive, however it can be fixed with no problem by any Good Cue Repairman..

Last of all, another poster commented that it may be the A-joint this is not possible. This joint is located at the begining of the wrap and the back of the forearm on cues that use them. If this joint was out of alinement or a warp occurred at that location the butt would wobble without the shaft attached.

The cue I am talking about is a Zylr
This just threw me off because I was playing just the day before and it was perfectly fine.
I attached the shaft to my other zylr, southwest, and JMW that also have a 3/8 x 11 pin. The shaft rolls good on the other cues so Im now thinking the pin is bent. I am going to take it to Ariel Carmeli this week and find out whats wrong.
