Was Elvis known to be a decent pool/billiards player?

I am not a huge Elvis fan but do appreciate his work. It has been said that Elvis attracted the best musicians in the business. The Doors never used a bassist on stage to perform but they used a bassist to record their albums in the studio. They used Elvis's bassist on the recording of the L.A. Woman album because he was known to be the best.

who gives a shit. dudes been dead 40 years, he got his pic taken with a pool cue in his hand. if he was bowling would the bowling crowd be asking if he was a good bowler? I wonder if he ever curled. lol, what a retarded game
With all due respect, if that is you opinion of Curling where does that leave pool?

Curling is an Olympic sport played by millions. It dates back like 600 years. A curling match will fill a stadium while a pool tournament might draw 10 spectators as long as it is free.

I don't know whether the 'King of Rock and Roll' was an accomplished player, or not, but some indication of his fondness of the game can be found in the lyrics of one of his songs:

You know I can be found, playing pool downtown,
and if you come around, just lay your money down.
Let's play pool, and don't you be no fool.

You know that if I made you mad, about calling your pool play bad,
you shouldn't feel so sad, your future looks bright ahead.
Don't be no fool, you're just not that cool, at playing pool.
I don't want no other game, it's only your money, to me it's all the same.

RCA didn't care for his reference to pool so they requested a rewrite prior to publication. Now you know the end of the story.

He also wrote a song about his chalk-stained cue, called "Blue Shade Shooter", but they changed the lyrics on that one just before he entered the studio.
