Was Mosconi correct in thinking that pool should be a gentleman's game?

If you want to find pool players, then your best chance is to head to the city pool hall. Depending on what city you're in, you are at the mercy of "what's available?"

I travel the midwest and play in different pool halls, some are good, and some I drove by a few times before I would go inside. But once inside, you have people who shoot pool. If you go and work on your game, then chances are you won't run into any issues. But let's face it, we all scout out who's playing, and if they're any good.

I get asked to play for money periodically. I take it or leave it, depending on my belief I can hold my own in the game I'm playing.

Unfortunately, not too many people have a table, and the patrons at the bar I deal with as I want to, in a gentlemanly way.

I enjoy the game from a pool hall, bar, my house and friends' houses. I won't play someone under my skill too many times. I'd rather play someone that I have to play my best to beat them, and some of the better players in the area that don't have tables, go to pool halls. I feel I can judge pretty quickly, if my opponent is someone I'll want to keep playing.

The only way the game will change is from the players, and for the most part, it is a gentleman's game.
