So I came home from a pool tourney last night to find a paper bag with four videos in it by my bed. I guess my roommate got these videos from somewhere and left them for me. It was the four Mizerak videos here. I figured I would check them out.

Last night I watched the bar table video with Dave Matlock. That guy can play, and a monster break as well. Archer was a tool, Mizerak was asking simple questions trying to inspire responses from Matlock so the people watching could learn something, and Matlock was shooting great. One spot when Matlock was explaining banks the balls changed spots right when he was lining up the shot to where he made the ball..so he must have missed it the first attempt. Kinda funny. Informative to the beginner I guess, but not for anyone who has played the game for years.

Is Dave Matlock still around playing? Pretty strong.

I went and took lessons from Dave about a month ago. To anwser your question; yes he still plays. However, he gets bored and "down" on pool. So, his heart isn't in it. Like i said it an old thread; it takes a great tournament and format for him to really get interested and then shine. The IPT was a great venue. He got ready and interested. If i remember right, he was the highest american finisher in one of the big tournaments they had. I'll tell you. i've had BCA lessons,a lesson with Jim McDermott ( in which i'm still gratefull), and Buddy Hall. Dave, by far, had the most intimate knowledge of the game. His background of 3C gives him a tremendous advantage. He has amazing stroke. He banks, kicks, and shoots on the world class level. He kicked almost every ball in the first or second time. I'm talking 2-3 rail kicks. He looked at me and told me confidently that he is the best all around american player. When he is really focused. I believe him. He has beaten alot of top players on both tables. He is the only guy to beat buddy two sets in his prime; one on the bar table and one on the big table. He beat buddy every time they played. He has beaten parica, strickland, davenport, hall among others. It's a shame that he doesn't give that "one more try"..

That is one of the first pool videos I ever bought. It is kinda cheezy in parts, but its pretty funny when Matlock breaks and runs a few racks on The Miz and when the Miz finally gets a shot, Matlock had played a safety on him. The look on the Miz's face is priceless.
