water on pool table

So, I have a table in my garage. Above the garage is a patio. I had it re-sealed before I got the table, but apparently the seal is failing because we got some heavy rains and water got through into the garage.

I have a cover on the table, but I just discovered it isn't entirely water proof because some of the water soaked into the cloth of the table.

I am going to get the patio re-sealed or patched up, but has anybody ever got water soaked into a pool table in a similar scenario. If so, what is the best response? Should I take a hair dryer to it, or just let it dry naturally? How will the cloth be impacted?

Also, can anybody recommend a cover that is truly water proof?

table water

My suggestion:

Blot the table as dry as possible using towel/s.

Then let it dry naturally. ( When the cloth dries out it should stretch out evenly over the table. )

Depending on the amount of water, you may have a problem with water trapped under the rails. If so, pull the rails to dry separately first, before doing the above.

You may end up with unsightly water stains. but they won't affect table play.

Good luck!

thanks. It only soaked through on one or two parts of the cloth- not near the rails.

There are still periodic drips coming through even though it stopped raining and it is now totally dry on the patio. Once it stops dripping I'll blot the table dry with towels as you recommended.

Table covers

I offer table covers made of marine grade material.
These are American made premium table covers.
I offer a great deal on these this time of the year.
Order before the end of the year and you'll get a great price.

You can use a Rainbow vacuum cleaner or wet vac and suck it up.

Just be careful not to suck up the cloth.

Then take a damp cloth and go over the whole surface of the table.

If the water is on only the cloth and the slate than you will likely be fine. I would just use fans to keep the air moving and expedite drying. Just blot as much as possible with towels. I don't think a hair dryer would be a good idea.

I agree with gently blotting up what you can with towels and the run fans on it until its totally dry.
