Waves/ripples in felt

Got table recovered with predator Arcadia by a pool service company like 2-3 months ago have these waves/ripples on the cloth of my table they have been here since the day the table was recovered however I was told eventually they would go away. I was wondering how much of an affect this might have on the speed of the table and the play of the table, and if this is something that happens because of the table I have (8ft Kasson 3pce slate) or the way in which is was recovered. I’ve been told that I won’t be able to get my table nearly as fast as a Brunswick GC or diamond however I would like to have it as fast as I can get it to be. Some of the photos have been edited to make the ripples more obvious so they are easier to see.

I got the same line of bullshit with my installation…. It’ll go away. I paid out of pocket to have a new cloth from a recommended mechanic. Maybe you can find the right person to re-stretch it properly. Post who did the work. Florida Billiards did mine. Real manure.

That table was recovered by someone that does not know what they are doing. The grain of the cloth is all over the place, it should be running straight. It's really obvious on the side pocket closeups. This is a perfect example of why it would be nice to have some kind of accreditation for people who claim to work on tables. Often there are not many people to choose from though, so buyers get hosed.

When you talk about the speed of the table, you are referring to rebound off the cushions. Just rolling on the slate will be exactly the same given the same cloth is used, and has the same stretch. Slate is slate after all.

The shadows you see are from uneven stretch. They may fade over time, but will probably never disappear. It will probably play ok, maybe with some slight roll offs. But will mostly be cosmetic in nature. You dont have real problems until it pushes wrinkles like un Gold Crows post #2. Both yours and his are still hack work though.

If you are not happy, make them come back and do it again. If after 3 months they still haven't went away, they probably never will.

No reason it can't play fast. That's a terrible job.

The people I bought from came highly recommended. I bought with confidence. The owners name is well regarded. However he does not get involved with installations anymore...His family/relatives run the business. And they never learned. A group of helpers. To make worse worse the person that is the cloth specialist was out of work for a while and I got "The wrinkles/lines,showdows will go away" guy. When he said that I knew I'd had to seek and experienced mechanic. I did not want them back.

May I say to new buyers or those that need service.... If you can find the right mechanic pay their price and thank them.

That's awful, I cant believe that they left your cloth that loose. Those guys at Florida Billiards should never be allowed to touch any table ever again.

Stretch most definitely affects roll speed,,,,,,,,,,,,,

And never got back to me. Said I’m scheduled for a new cloth but they are not available. I told them to simply provide a new cloth and I’ll call it even. Never got back to me. Not surprised. People are your best friend when the checkbook is out.

Tell that to Diamond that "Authorized" them. I did run this by Diamond. No reply from Diamond. No recourse. FloridaBilliards specializes in selling beautiful tables to bangers and homeowners that have no idea what a good set up is...or for rentals, parties, etc. They should lose the right to sell Diamond tables. There are a 100's of hack job stories. This has been one of them. My 1st table (1979) was a Gandy Hustler. Had no idea if the pockets were calibrated, the rails were good or bad. It was fun being uneducated. No aggravation or high expectations comes into play. Sadly there are lot of business', services that sell garbage and tell the buyer ...the smell will go away.
