Wavy Inlays

Cue ball draw with this?
Silver Member
Is it difficult to inlay a wavy line around the butt sleeve? I'm thinking of 5 diff colors in a wave like inlay going around the but sleeve. What do you think? Too difficult, too ugly? I have not seen this type of inlay anywhere and I would like to incorporate this into a new cue.

you mean something like this????? it's easy

A...inlay strips of veneer into a maple(or whatever) dowel

B...slice wafers and stagger them in the butt

I hope I can explain the concept. Let's try this. If you put a rubber band around the butt sleeve and then slide part of it and slide part of it down and did this all the way around the butt sleeve. That then would be wavy around the butt sleeve. I'm sorry if I am not commuicated this properly. I wish I could draw it. It would look similar to ~ but going all the way around.

I think he's talking about an actual inlay as opposed to a butterfly. More like a sine wave the whole circumference of the cue. The trick would probably be getting the curve to match at the beginning and the end, but I'm sure one of these guys with a 4 axis CNC could work it out. I don't know what it would look like, but it would be different.

Thanks Shakes,

I think you got it. I just hope someone can do it. I have never seen it before. I would like to have 5 of these wavy ring/inlays going around the butt sleeve, Black, Grey, Burgandy, Grey, and Black again in that order. Just like you described it.

Thanks
