I had a new pool table set up with simonis cloth. The rails are slightly wavy from stretching the cloth tight. The guy said the cloth will stretch out after a while. He said this is very common on recovering new tables especialy with simonis cloth. He said the cloth comes precut and you dont have alot to work with. I am not awrae of seeing this as a problem on tables myself.
So is this guy full of crap or is he correct.
thanks will

Do you mean the Cushions are wavy? As in the rubber part? Or it looks wavy as in you can see color variations but the cushion is still straight.

Simonis doesn't come Pre-cut. You have to cut and rip it all the way down (A scary feeling) from the bed cloth to get the rail cloth.

Not true, you can get siminos with the rail sections already separated from the bed cloth. Those ripples can disapear if they were not pulled to tight. I used to take the rail where those dips were and work the rubber up and down with your fingers to relax the felt.

A good person to get info from on this would be mechanic/player. His advice is always solid.

The guy probably screwed up cutting the rail cloth and just said that to placate you.....

Give it some time, maybe the cloth will relax after a few weeks. If not and it's compressing the cushion then the staples in that area need to be pulled and then re- stapled. Most of the time the Simonis I work with has to be ripped but it does come pre-cut too and its alot nicer to work with, vs. ripping it and dealing with all the loose threads.

I never delt with Simonis Pre-cut. It would be nice. I hate tearing the felt thinking... "If this things makes a wrong turn."

How wide is the pre-cut simonis?

Owned a pool hall for a while and, as a rule, this is a function of the cloth being pulled too tight. It can be self correcting but, on occasion, it isn't.

I'd re-evaluate it in a couple of weeks. Don't lose the PTM's #.:)
