Waxed wood

I have bought a lot of wood for points and forearms that is waxed. Does anyone have a good way to get the wax off besides scraping and sanding?

Thanks for the info.

When you turn it round the wax is cut off the sides. If you want it off the ends just face them. As far as the point stock, It will get cut off when you square it up.

Maybe you were looking for more, but this is what I do.

Good luck,

Troy

Is the wax bad on planer or jointer blades? That was my main concern.

Is the wax bad on the Planer? Nope, it most likely won't rust wherever the wax builds up. It however is not so good for any wood that you put through after as it will not exactly stay quare in the area that the wax does build up. Just use a chisle or blunt blade and scrape as much off as you can. If you do this not much will stick. Unless you use a tourch it will not be easy to get it all. Just make sure you don't have any wax on your glue surfaces.

That's pretty much it.

That's pretty much it. If its for v-groove point stock I just scrape off as much as possible then run it through the planer. It is easy to remove the blades on my planer and just clean them before I use it for the next project.
