We’ll definitely not going back to that place again.

Bar room pool is the Walmart (insert any big box store name here) of pool. You don’t go into a Walmart looking for specialty hardware and advice. You don’t go into a bar room expecting serious pool, and good equipment. It has it’s place though, and many folks prefer that atmosphere, so just accept it and deal with it. It’s cheap entertainment! Play with your off hand!

“Once I have a few in me doesn’t matter how the tables play”. Conditions don’t matter. there’s like that unstated rule that you never shoot your best at the shit bar. You can win, but you have to keep everyone simmered. That’s the name of the game. Unless you have backup.

The main thing wasn’t the tables. The tables were shit so it made it no fun. It’s the stopping in the middle of the match for 20 minutes to play some side game. And they allowed it. That’s what made me say fuck this place.

Ah. That makes more sense now. I thought tables were your biggest concern. If I was there and wasn’t in a drinking mood, that would’ve pissed me off too. That might be bigger than the tournament to those players though. I’d have to feel it out as it happened.

Yeah it was stupid. I don’t drink anymore so all I go for is the fun of competitively shooting. The guy didn’t even ask if it was alright to pause our game for that. He just did it. It happened to my buddy too, one of the guys he shot against just disappeared for 10 minutes. They advertised the tournament on Facebook like it was this legit BCA rule tournament. It was anything but that.
 
It's annoying when your opponent just dissappears for 10-15 minutes during a match.

We used to have a local league here with 4 person teams. One team had a girl that would just randomly take off while you were shooting against her and you would have to go find her. It got to the point anytime I played against her I would warn her that if she disappeared on me for anymore than 5 minutes I would classify it as a forfeit. I ended up with a couple of wins against her because of it.

They still have the chance to make a better tournament. Like I said, I only wanted to hear other peoples stories that were similar as to mine.

Welcome to the reality of bar pool. Tons of dive bar tournaments with sketchy equipment and regulars. As a rule of thumb, I don't play for money in establishments I've never checked out/played in first.
You come across as a bit "entitled" Gravey. You're not gonna get much sympathy with that attitude. And $10 lol, that's about a penny to decent pool players.

Man did y’all skip the point where I said I made this post to hear someone’s else’s story of something similar? Just to share. I knew I’m not the only one that’s came across this. The tournament sucked, I won’t go back. That’s the point. My decision to make. Not yalls because “it’s the normal” I don’t feel like wasting my time at places like that. I like good solid competition played correctly. Case and point. I could care less about anything else. So yes, maybe I am entitled. But I’m entitled to enjoy and dislike whatever it is that I feel like. It’s my life.

My wife does work with the mentally disabled, but it's volunteer work. You can keep your milk money
