Wedge Cue

Is it possible to modify a finished cue to look and play like a brunswick 26 1/2 cue? Or would the balance be compromised? I really would like to try playing with a wedge cue, but i am having trouble finding one thats in decent shape that could be used as a player. I however have a few mcdermotts that could be sacraficed.. or am i better off having one built from scratch? I have a nice idea for a custom, but i wanna try one first...

Considering the fact that the back end of the McD has been drilled out hollow for the weight bolt it might be hard to cut the flat wedge back there. It is not impossible, but why are you wanting the flat wedge? It will change the balance a little, but that is not a major factor.

i've been playing around with the way i grip the cue and my stance. I used to use a loose 3 finger grip and bend over pretty far. Being very tall, this would cause my neck to start hurting after 10 games. I started standing up more which gave me a better view of the table and angles. However i started to scoop the cue ball on low english shots. I've noticed that if i put my thumb on top of the cue and use a full grip, my stroke straightens out consideribly and i get much more english and control. To the point that i can shoot half as hard as when i used the old stance and be exactly where i want to be with the cue ball. I then took notice to where i was holding the cue and marked it with tape, measured it and it falls right at 26 1/2". Now i'm thinking a wedged butt would make the grip a little more comfortable. I could just cut the butt on the one mcdermott, but i'm not sure which angle and and how large. All my good shafts are also radial, so i'd need to have the pin changed to get a good comparison. And then its pepto bismol pink, so i'd have to refinish it. The other mcdermott has a linen wrap so it'd need a new handle and the butt put back on, not to mention a pin changed. With all that work i would think it'd just be easier to start fresh and have the balance correct.

Does anyone make a pin thats a standard 3/8 x 10 thread on the forearm side and radial on on the joint side? I dont think i can retap the butt to a radial thread since it started as a 3/8x10? I cut the butt on one of my extras and removed the pin.

short of plugging the join pin hole and re tapping it, there are no other alternatives?
