Weight Bolt

I have a nice custom cue and just for the hell of it I took the weight bolt out to see how it affected the balance point and playability. With the bolt removed I got an intermittent buzzing sound from the butt area of the cue. It did not happen all the time just occasionally. When the bolt is reinstalled the buzz is gone!! Do any of the builders here have some guesses as to why this happens?

Is it a big head weight bolt, that may be holding the butt cap on. Is there any visible cracks when you look inside the hole.

Hello Michael, I guess it is the big head as it does hold the rubber bumper on. It seems to be aluminum and very light, perhaps two inches long and no there does not appear to be any cracks.
