I just got a Schmelke cue, its great but its about 15oz. Is it difficult to add a weight bolt? I'd like the cue to be about 19oz.

If the cue is indeed 15 ounces....not just the cue butt....forget about making it 19 ounces as it would be tail end heavy. If you want 19 ozs, what is the weight of your cue's shaft?

It may be front 'heavy' now.

Sometimes a weight bolt can be screwed fairly deep into the butt.

Stuff happens, maybe a 3 oz. bolt was forgotten to be put in.

Just some thoughts.

Ponder this....if the cue was a 58" & 15 ounces....not just the cue butt portion weighing 15 ozs. which would
be quite normal......the shaft would be at least 3 ounces I'd imagine....and that's awfully light.

So if the shaft was even 3.5 ozs., the cue butt would only be 11.5 ounces. I play with cues that weigh
between 18,25 and 18,75 ounces.....all the cue butts are between 14.5 and 14.75 ounces. Heavy cue
butts tend to approach 16. ozs and heavier.

To take a cue butt from 11.5 ounces to 15.5 ozs, so that a 3.5 oz. shaft would render the cue 19 ounces,
well, that cue is going to feel like an anchor with 4 ounces of metal shoved up the butt. That would be one
hefty hunk of metal to add to the cue and dramatically alters the balance of the cue and IMO, would ruin
the balance. However, if the cue is indeed only 15 ozs, it likely does not have any noticeable balance now.

Anyway, that's my take on the situation based on a pool cue's anatomy.

4.0 oz is allot of weight to add and if you do the cue repairman will have no control of balance point.

Most cue repair guys can handle this .

If you have issues finding someone to repair your cue I can.
Pm me if you want me to do the repairs .
