weight energy transfer

Well, isn't the force limited by your muscle strength and could be seen as a constant?
As such you could attain higher speed with a lighter cue, but due to reduced mass, have the same force as with a heavier cue?

Food for thought.

I do like 20oz cues best, because I have a very very loose grip on the cue. That way I can also reduce squirt and increase accuracy, provided the equipment supports me.

A cues overall weight can help reduce squirt ? Am I missing something here...

Yes, you seem to be missing proper reading skills

The squirt is reduced by the very loose grip, not the weight of the cue.
The weight of the cue is related to my height and what feels natural while simply holding the cue still.

Then again I seem to favour Carom and Snooker techniques and stance over the usual pool techniques.

Cheers!

You're getting into an area that you will not win the argument, but I know what you mean. Do you use an open bridge?

That would only apply to hitting as hard as possible. Anything less than that would be variable.

That could happen, but purely by coincidence.

The squirt is reduced by the very loose grip, not the weight of the cue.
Actually, squirt is only reduced significantly by reducing "end mass" (weight of material near the tip) - not by overall cue weight. And definitely not by your grip.

Yes please - only open bridges for me!
I might not win the argument, but the Carom guys said that it was almost perfect how loose I held the cue; that way I would have less squirt on heavy spin shots.

chgo: Yes, I'm positive that the weight has nothing to do with squirt, but the end mass.
As for the force I'm still pondering what a difference the weight might have...

M
