Anyone heard of Joel Weinstock cues? Couple on ebay right now. Just wondered if anyone here knows anything about his work. Thanks.

The seller is regular poster on AZ .. perhaps he (Duc) will shed some lights ... not in 3rd edition Blue Book.

joel weinstock cues

He build cues in Tulsa OK, been building them off and on for years. He learned from Verl Horn and builds a nice cue. I used to have one 10 years ago or so.

hope that helps

Thanks Ryan. It says in the auction that "Joel builds cues in the traditional style of his mentor David Kensenbrock". Both cues look interesting for a player.

Joel Weinstock Cues!

Hi Guys,

Joel has been building cues on and off over the years. His speciality is building SW/DPK style cues and he was a student of DPK in the 90's. I'm sure he learned and shared his skills with some of the local cuemakers in Tulsa includeing Verl Horn.

I first came across Joel cue when I pick up a customized schon that was fixed up by Joel and I was amazed how it hit. I have since had him build several sample cues and I'm very pleased with the quality and especially the playability of his cues. He's definitely going to be a lot busier now but I don't think he'll be taking on that much orders... I will have him book up for at least a year or so.

Regards,
Duc.

my recollection

from back in the day ( I am originally from Tulsa) when I used to sell Verl's cues for him as a dealer. Verl and I used to talk about all the folks he had trained in cue building. Joel was one of them. I dont know about the DPK link, but I figure Joel wouldnt lie about it. I just know that Joel used to drive out to Mooreland OK to get trained by Verl Horn every weekend for a few months back in the mid 90's and Verl sold him a lathe too.

Joel Weinstock makes a nice cue that does play well...compound tapered cue generally do.

Sorry bigpocket. I don't know how to do the link thing. But if you go to ebay and do a search on item # 320022325303 you can see it.
