Weird joint pin dimension

Hello all....
A buddy of mine has a no-name cue, at least I can't make out the name. Anyhow, the pin "looks" like a 5/16-14 pin which is what I assumed it was. WRONG! This thing mics to roughly .342 which makes no sense. The shaft has a brass insert with a nipple. I'm guessing this thing is metric......perhaps 9mm? I've never heard of a 9mm pin in a pool cue before but perhaps a lot of the world uses metric pins in pool cues not destined for the US market? Does anyone know where to buy an insert for something like that? Or..........what the hell is it??

Every cue company thinks that making their own cute little proprietary pin makes them special. I think it is 'pin' envy, if you catch my drift.

Honestly, tho, you haven't really given enough information for anyone to make much more than a guess. Sure, 0.342" is about 12thou under 9mm, so it seems possible. At least order up a set of metric and imperial thread gauges and make some sort of attempt at getting the pitch.

I was simply wondering if anyone had ever seen a 9mm joint pin. And if so, where might I find an insert for it. I'm my 40 years of being around pool cues almost of every shape and size I can't recall ever seeing a metric pin. I'll make an insert if I have no other choice but would prefer to simply buy one off the shelf.

The closest would be a Cuetec

So get this....... The gent who owns the cue absolutely loves it. Nicest people in the world too. His wife got it for him as an anniversary present. Turns out it's not such a quality cue made by a Chinese company named Tai Ba. Amazon type cue sadly. The thread pitch matches 12TPI perfectly but it's .341 diameter. Looks like I'm making a brass insert and running internal threads. Lol

That undersized 12 has been around a long time. Usually it threaded into a brass joint.

Undersized from what? 3/8? What do I search for when looking for a brass insert for the thing? I have brass stock so I'll most likely make my own for the fun of it. Haven't done any internal threading in 30 years.

Yes. 3/8
I don't know if a tap is sold or not. The one i have along with the joint screws is a standard 3/8x12.
Internal threading might be your best option.
