Welcome to the Arizona Billiards Directory

Great site

I sent them some updated info and they updated it that same day
Great site
Thanks

Yep, this was stolen from the Real AZ Rating Committee. Roger Long is the one who owns the website and has posted the ratings without permission.

They don't attend any of the Rating Meetings and have no input into raising or lowering players based on ability.

There are also some major differences in there list and players are not listed on both, mainly because they only get input from Pappy's for new players.

I'm not even on there list which I think is great. Maybe I can get rated as a 5 or 6 and play some at Pappy's.

Well I find your reply very interesting, but I believe Mr. long was a Member of the AZ Rating Committee when he was affiliated with Pappy?s in Phoenix, so I do not see where he, as you say stole anything as it was with in his power to have that information, and make said information public.

I do understand the explanation of the Rating is not accurate, as the real rating go from 4 to 10-2.

BTW I think the Rating of Player should be in an OPEN BOOK, as well as the Criteria for having said Ratings.

Thanks for the reply.

Well, I only stated it that way because I heard from Bob Jackson's mouth on his feelings of this website.

Also, I understand why he pulled the original ratings off the internet in the first place. It just became an index for road players to come in and know everyone's abilities.

My understanding is that Roger or whoever took one of the old rating sheets or the really old version that use to be posted online and uploaded into this new web address. And that this copy of the entire list was done so without the approval of the Rating Committee.

Think it would be nice if the entire 10,000" on the AZ rating list were posted, and as far as the road players are concerned. Whit the internet that information on a person skill level is not hard to find.

I had offered to put the entire thing online and streamline the AZ Rating Meetings and get more input from more committee members, but Bob Jackson shot down the idea. And that was his reasoning. Or atleast one of them.

The issue with this other site is that the 2 are not linked together. People are rated on this website and not the official AZ Rating book.

Don't get me wrong, I personally don't care either way, but I know how much work Bob has done for the good of pool in AZ over the years, and I think someone just going against all his work and claiming it for themselves is just wrong. I would like to see the list online and accessable to everyone. The cost to create the books each quarter with shipping and everything cost him $1000's. But until then, It's Bob's decision and the committee, not just anyone who wants to publish it online.

:D

BTW - For all you road players....My name is not Ken Gouso....It is Kenny Hunn......please make note in your research to determine what spot you are going to give me.....;)

The bidding starts at.....7 out and the breaks...:)

Well I serious doubt that the cost of producing the ?25 or so Books? 4 x?s a year cost $1000.00 for the Less than 25 Members on the Rating Committee, per an old post by you. If Bob is pay over $1,000.00 i would like to bid on that printing, and binding job.

As one the information is entered on to a PC/Macintosh Computer it needs only be update, and a Mater Copy Printed, & Bound and sent to the less than 25 Members of the Rating Committee.

As you stated before, ?Here are a list of Places and Persons in the Valley with Voting Rights. As of 4/1/08.

Alexanders - Bull & Ron Merseal
City Billiards - Jim Sears
Frontier Billiards - Kevin Randle
Groggy's - Kathy Crout
Hollywood Billiards - Bobby Yang
Kitty's - Kitty Carroll & Jack Chessman
Knobby's - Dale Teague
Main Street - Bob Jackson
Main Street Mesa - Thor Skogan & Jesse Renteria
Metro Sports - Steve "Jaz" & Dick Breese
Mountain Home Game Room - Jeff Waldheim
MVP Sports Bar - Tina Benoit
Northern Lounge - Larry Eans & Marty Eans
On the Snap - Erik Vankerkwyk
Ox Sports Bar - Rick Morris & Kitty Carroll
Pockets - Lenny Johnson, Stephen Havens and Ken Cottrell
Six Shooters - Charlie Huen & Gibo Pachecco
The Sets - Jerry Stuckart
Time Out Lounge - Cathy Kelly
Uptown Billiards - George Cruz & James Jay

Player Representatives:
Lee Collins
Chad Mullenberg

And the committee is always looking for other player rep's. Just come to a meeting.?

I know at one time Mike AZHousePro Howerton did have people rating on his his web-site, and it was a good source of information.

I hope one day soon the Arizona Rating Committee will post People Rating, and what the Criteria are for designating each Rating Number.

The Ratings book goes out to many more locations than just the 25 committee members. It goes out to any and all pool rooms that want to be able to run rated tournaments.

I don't have the exact number, but it covers the entire state of arizona. These books are pretty big and the shipping, atleast for my copy, was $2.20 for the last one.

Trust me, he spends a lot of his free time and money in making the rating committee a success. The committee doesn't make any money off this and is all done on a volunteer basis.

If you can do all the creating, printing, binding and shipping for much less, I'm pretty sure Bob would accept your offer.

Well it was my understanding that only Committee Members got the books, so I understand now that more than 25 Copies are made up and mailed out.

But I would think once the information was on a Disc, all you would need do is add the NEW NAME & RATINGS, and make Change in Anyone Rating who was moved up, or down.

After that you print out your master, and a Trip to the copy shop, and you have your copies, and they get bound.

One of the interesting things about the Rating One Carries, is how you get rated.

Could be playing 8 Ball, 9 Ball, or a Bar Box, or Big Table. Think most player have a stronger or weaker games, and play better on either a Bar Box, or Big Table.

Maybe everyone needs 4 Ratings.
