Well, I hate to start another Meucci thread, BUT.....

Hahaha. So is this like admitting their others cues aren't high quality and high performance!? I'm sure the points will be uneven, the inlays won't line up, etc. Heck, when I had one refinished (10 or 11 months mind you) Bob actually answered the phone one of the times I called. I asked to make sure the inlays on the shafts matched with the butt when screwed together - simple enough since the collars were off right? His reply was 'we don't do that'. Got the cue back and of course all the square inlays don't line up when the shaft is put on. Yes, it doesn't affect play, but that is a simple sign of quality and giving a sh!t to me.

Oh well, I'm not an APA 6 cause I don't play in the APA and hate bar tables - I wouldn't be able to use these anyways according to them haha!

I have three MEUCCI ORIGINALS from the '80s.

Interesting marketing ploy, though. I'll bet you start seeing those around...likely in the hands of guys with more cash than sense...and who can't run three balls. Once upon a time, you used to see road players and some pros who preferred Meucci cues, back in the 80s you saw them EVERYWHERE...Bob should figure out when and why that changed. The original sneaky pete was a beast.

I still have the three 1984 MEUCCI ORIGINALS for sale. Very reasonable prices.

The bad rep that Meucci has acquired over the past two decades has caused folks to question the quality of the ORIGINALS.

Yes, many of the big boys used to use them. I personally had my best couple years playing with a 1988 Meucci sneaky that was stolen in '95.

New G10 meucci's...

I agree that SOME of the 70's, 80's, and early 90's meucci's (especially the sneaky's) performed GREAT IN THEIR TIME. But I hardly think that a G10 pin is going to change the flaking finishes, the cracking joint collars, ferrules, and buttcaps.. Let alone the fact that the one's that fall apart usually outplay the ones that don't..lol I will say that the old true "no dot" sneaky's were some of the best $200 cues I ever shot with.. until the shaft cracked at the joint.
Their marketing ploy is absolute majic though.. They will probably sell a ton of those to guys with ego's the size of Nebraska that play like apa 5-6's

I have one, and posted my thoughts of it here, but it is waiting for moderator approval.....

The short version is: I get where Bob is coming from on this cue....I can put insane amounts of spin on the cue ball. It rewards sloppy play with sloppy accuracy. I think what the grumpy ol' man is saying is "if your stroke isn't grooved, or if you are a beginner, you're not gonna dig this cue". I can get away with murder with some of my other cues, especially my 1980's McDermott C-8, but this one requires a bit more from me. I am applying outside with more confidence and continue to be pleased with my ability to get the cue ball around the table. I am also drawing like a fiend. I have a nice Schon STL-5 and I can't draw worth a dang with it....

My cue arrived signed and beautifully made with sharp points, and I was pleased with his interview of me and his reasoning for his recommendations. He is obviously building these himself.

In the end, I wanted a beautiful (subjective, of course) cue that lifted my game. It delivered on both counts.

I am a violinist by trade, so I am aware of the difference a violin or bow can make to skilled players who are NOT virtuosos. Itzhak Perlman will play well on an average violin because he is a virtuoso, but a really good instrument that requires more from me will make me better, and it is so with other extensions of the body like a cue.
