I have one, and posted my thoughts of it here, but it is waiting for moderator approval.....
The short version is: I get where Bob is coming from on this cue....I can put insane amounts of spin on the cue ball. It rewards sloppy play with sloppy accuracy. I think what the grumpy ol' man is saying is "if your stroke isn't grooved, or if you are a beginner, you're not gonna dig this cue". I can get away with murder with some of my other cues, especially my 1980's McDermott C-8, but this one requires a bit more from me. I am applying outside with more confidence and continue to be pleased with my ability to get the cue ball around the table. I am also drawing like a fiend. I have a nice Schon STL-5 and I can't draw worth a dang with it....
My cue arrived signed and beautifully made with sharp points, and I was pleased with his interview of me and his reasoning for his recommendations. He is obviously building these himself.
In the end, I wanted a beautiful (subjective, of course) cue that lifted my game. It delivered on both counts.
I am a violinist by trade, so I am aware of the difference a violin or bow can make to skilled players who are NOT virtuosos. Itzhak Perlman will play well on an average violin because he is a virtuoso, but a really good instrument that requires more from me will make me better, and it is so with other extensions of the body like a cue.
