Westwood Billiard Table

Afternoon all,
This is my first post here and I'm just getting my feet wet. Forgive me if this is in the wrong section!

Anyways, my wife and I are looking to buy a table. I found a Westwood Billiard table locally that seems pretty nice but I can't find anything anywhere on the internet about what kind of table it is. Does anyone have any opinions on these tables, good or bad? We're not looking to spend a ton on one because we are just casual players.

Thanks for your input!

Welcome to the boards.

Is it an acutall billiard table (no pockets) or Is it a pool table (has pockets)? Some use the same term for both tables, but the people on here may need to know in order to give an oppinion.

Im not familliar with Westwood tables. But here are some things to look for,

Is it slate, if so how thick?

What type of leveling system? (do you have to jack up the table to level? If so do you have to use shims?)

Drop pocket or ball returns? (personal preference)

What size is the table?

For most recreational players, a decent slate table is fine as long as its set up properly. You can take a good table, set it up poorly and it will play worse than a cheap table set up well.

Pool rooms are closing all over-There are Brunswick Gold Crowns available for 1000-2000.00-I think Diamonds command more as there aren't as many around but they are out there. Find a decent one and have a good mechanic set it up and you will be better off than with a Westwood imo. Check Craigs list in your area.

PS- It may cost you $500 to have it moved and reclothed.

It's an actual pool table. I haven't had a chance to physically look at the table yet, I've only seen pictures, but what I've seen it looks pretty nice. It is a 3 piece slate table.

The medallion on the rail says: "Westwood Billiards, A New Generation of Excellence".

If there's stuff I should look for when I look at it I'd appreciate it, or if someone has a link I'd appreciate that too!

There is a flood of used pool tables on the market right now. Many of these tables are basicly the same tables that Westwood makes. Most were bought with good intentions and sold do to lack of interest shortly there after. Generally the tables that are listed on craiglist are a fraction of the cost new and many of them have hardly ever been played on. Nostrokes advice is dead on IMO, if you are going to buy a furniture table buy used and save 1500 dollars and then spend 500 for the best cloth and a set up job. If it were me (and it was once ) look for a good competition table and never look back.

Bought the table! It was actually in a lot better condition than the pictures I saw. Three piece slate, really nice solid frame for support. The felt looked brand new and the guy apparently rarely played. All said and done it was an even $1000 for the table and all the accessories and having it professionally moved and set up!

Thanks, I'm learning a lot more as I browse the forums.

I just saw a Westwood Tuscany for sale. It looks fantastic in the pics.

Anyone else have any experience with them?

Looks like the original poster hasn't been on here in quite a while.
