1. Policing? That's pathetic. I don't do policing. I'm just providing some data I rather found interesting.
2. The problem can be solved from the backend, not the other way around (and I doubt you understand what I'm talking about)
3. I like to see how you donate your resources (server), effort (hours of analytics, coding), and expertise (coding) to solve this problem.

p/s: Traffic to my personal website is the last thing I would be worrying about.

I have a general idea of how this was done, but he could have spent a few extra minutes to output the information in an easier to read format. However, this seems to be a shameless plug to get more traffic to his website. Also, IMHO, this was done in poor taste. "Web Marketing Specialist" is listed under his name after all. This is worse to me than someone waiting two days to bump their thread, even if it isn't quite 48 hours. Alanvo has taken self policing to a new level. I implore our fellow AZers to not visit the posted link.

Surely the original post breaks some kind of rule?!?!

Worktheknight, my apologies. You're an outstanding seller, we all know that. However this tool does not!

This tool works automatically, it will look at the topics on the first 5 pages and detect OP's replies that don't elapse at least 48 hours. It will not be able to tell if your reply is a 'correcting' reply (it does not read).

I would suggest that you code a new program that would allow a Seller to hit the first page at the 48 hr time limit.

Below that time limit would only get you to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th pages and so on depending on the time that has passed since your last bump.

For instance, Bump before 48 hrs and that will get you to the second page, or below, and your personal timer will start over.
I realize that this could present a new problem for people that are legitimately on the 3rd page and waiting patiently for their 48 hr Bump., You could Bump them to the fourth when they should rightly be on the 3rd page.

Continue to Bump before the time period is up will assure that your Ad will never see the first page.

As in, if you are on the fourth page, bump at 10 hrs and the most it will take you is to the 3rd page. Something to that nature
It could be a Self Policing Program that wouldn't require the sites Admin to be spending time on offending Sellers.

It could be done, not by myself as I was just a lowly Lan guy and probably wasn't that great at it either. I could do some pretty basic 12 yr old web page stuff at one time.
Back in the old Novell days. Long time has passed since.

But, as I mentioned, I never gave the Bumping much thought previously as I was just happy to click away and look at pictures. I didn't care much as to what page they were on.

P.S. I just had some loose ideas I had running in my head. These were based on how I would attack that problem. I'm not completely inept on the back end side. I am a software developer by trade.

You don't have access. Obviously House Pro or Jerry has shown some interest in what you have done so you would have to work that part out with them.

You could iron out the details on your own PC, write something up that would give them a basic idea of what you are aiming for. See what they would like to have happen and go from there.

If you have Admin access, I am sure that you wouldn't Hi Jack the site and blow it up.
