What’s in the bag-Alex

My interpretation is that he feels like the steel jointed cue and softer tip is less lively, and easier for him to control in a game where he's super focused on cue ball placement.

Great video as usual by Karl this time with the Lion. Can’t work out how to link to it, sorry!

Alex talks about a steel joint or/and forward weight being better for one pocket. Can someone expand on what he means and if you agree?

Thanks

Alex didn’t mention the $ he beat me out of last time we played…….backgammon. 😂😂 he might need a bigger bag…….

Karl does great videos, he’s on AZB sometimes. Under cover screen name. I won’t say what it is. He’s a great guy, I’m triple happy he’s got the MR gig(he’s great at it) and I enjoy his YouTube channel.

I remember one night at a tourney at the Riv he was playing Alex. It was last match of the day, ran super late. Maybe 1am or later. Anyways Karl had a collared shirt on. Something nice like a iZod Lacoast golf shirt. Karl had the collar turned up on it. It suited his look. Alex by chance had the same shirt on-dress code is probably why. Anyways the match was long and painfully slow. About ½ way through the match Alex went to the bathroom and came out with his collar turned up like Karl-just to bust his balls. It was funny as hell(kinda had to be there to appreciate the move). A bit later Karl turned his collar to normal, then Alex turned his collar down. 😂

On the rail-we were pretty far from the pool table, we were all laughing our asses off. Even Karl was laughing at that point. The “collar” move. I’m not sure but they might have went up again. I think they did-thinking about it more (edit).

I don’t remember who won the match, was in 09 I’d guess.

Alex is a funny guy, he plays off others-he told me once’s “I can’t come up with any jokes of my own, so I follow other peoples humor and that’s how I’m funny”. He told me that a few years later. I’m lucky to know Alex and Karl. Both top notch guys.

Fun memories

Always liked Alex's low key attitude and game. Met him a few years ago when they had the 'West Coast Swing' roll through Cal Billiards. He was hanging out by the bar and TV table cracking jokes, sharing stories with crowd.

Wish him all the best for his business venture...(y)

Great story.

Pretty sure Karl wasn’t undercover when he posted / posts here. He used his Gwapo nickname . I believe he normally signed his name at the end of his posts.

Does anyone know how much the ko brothers tips cost and where to buy them?
a quick search was not helpful

He likes a Fwd-b'd cue for 1p. What he likes. Nothing technical about it, a feel is what it is. Sounds like his 1p cue is a little 'deader' hitting.

FWIW
alex is playing in the bayou classic
playing scott frost right now onepocket and he is using his "9 ball" lomax cue
most of the times i have watched alex play onepocket lately he seems to be using the "9 ball" lomax cue

It makes me feels good knowing that an accomplished pro like Alex also has zero clue as to how heavy his cues are....lol
