What’s the best way to record practice and games while simultaneously broadcasting to my tv ?

On the wall next to our table we have a decent size flat screen TV, this tv’s sole purpose is for playing dvds for training. But where I need help… I want to be able to record and playback training and games to see where I went wrong in my practice/games. I’m thinking about getting a wireless display adapter, put my phone on our tripod and video record matches/practice and then it will play on the tv.

Is there a better way to do this ? Someone more familiar with the tech world could probably do this better. Please any suggestions would help.

handheld camcorder plugged into tv

if its a computer setup then just display camera to screen while recording

I want to be able to rewind and rewatch with ease. That’s why I thought about using an iPhone or iPad. I feel that the camcorder would slow that process down

If you have a smart TV you can cast videos from your phone to the TV. If your TV isn't a "Smart" TV, buy an Amazon Fire stick or Chromecast for $30 and then you can stream to your TV from your phone.

Livestream to Facebook from your phone and watch the stream on your tv?

What connections are on the iphone? How old is the tv, what connections does it have?

Screen mirroring is amazing but only works with newer technology.

Okay. I might be able to help. I work more in audio recording but for video you want to use an actual cpu with video editing software like power director or adobe. I’d invest in an inexpensive GoPro or HD camcorder. You can use your tv as a monitor but that’s not ideal.

While you’re recording use this type of mouse. You want a mouse that has shuttle/jog control.

You can use this mouse to easily scroll back frame by frame within your video editing software. It’s super easy.

It works in real time while you’re recording to.

This allows to move around in your recording freely with just the mouse. No need to handle a phone or even the GoPro since it’s acting like a live feed.

Think of a live sporting event where the guy spins the dial back for a reply. Really simple to use.

Thank you for this piece of advice. You are describing exactly how I would want all of this to work. I’m sure I could use any laptop, but I wouldn’t want to haul my laptop to my pole barn each day and plug everything in. Also wouldn’t want to have to buy a laptop just to watch myself play pool ! Lol Any other ways I could use maybe a GoPro and not have to use a laptop?

There is probably a way to setup a jog wheel directly to a gopro and monitor but I'm not sure exactly how to do that.

You might be able to get away with simply using a tablet vs a laptop. I'd probably explore that route first.

I recommend you check Reddit or perhaps a video editing forum. There are video editing apps that work with tablets.

For a good setup, I would use a laptop, connected to a camera/webcam, connected to the TV as a second screen. You can get a good enough used laptop for $150, a Lenovo T430 or 430s are great systems for the price.
