What a good night!

So, the other night after I got off of work, I grabbed a bunch of co-workers, and we hit our usual after work bar to relax and have a few drinks. I like the bar, it only has two bar boxes, but that's ok because we usually don't roll in until around midnight anyways (I bartend). After half an hour, I get bored, so i decide to just putt around the table a little, hopefully to entice a friend to get off their ass so I can kick it a little. I'm playing rotation, and I drop the last ball and get ready to go sit down since I don't have any takers. A gentleman walks up and asks me if I'd like to play a few games. So I say sure, love to.
Then he asks me if I'd like to play $5 a rack. I say sure, no problem. Then he says "Let's make it $10.". Again, not a problem.

The part that got my mind going, was that I wasn't playing with a house cue, I was playing with my nice player. Most of the bars I'm in, playing with your own cue is tantamount to shooting yourself in the wallet. So this was a nice surprise, plus, I was really hoping the guy was good.
I like competition, hell, I just like to play, and for $10? I'll play anyone all night for that.
Well, I win the first game, and he asks if I want to bump it to $20 a rack, which I do. And for the next two and a half hours, we go at it. I played pretty well, and so did he. He was actually pretty good, which lit a fire under my ass, forced me to think, and get creative to win.
It was a great night, which had nothing to do with the money I won (but let's be honest, I sure didn't hurt!), I came out waaaay ahead.

But what I liked the most was the complete lack of drama, I never got any griping or boorish behavior from the guy, and he paid every game without fail or fanfare or theatrics. Classy all the way.

Just wanted to share that, it was nice to gamble a little without somebody trying to hustle up a lock, or cry like a stuck pig over pennies they willingly put up, or throwing a temper tantrum every time they lost a game.

So to Glen from Detroit, thank you for keeping it classy! Also, I'm still insanely jealous of your Screaming Eagle Harley.

Anyone else ever have just a nice, drama free night of gambling?
