I'm taking my boy out of school so we can go watch some of the Billiards Championships in Tacoma, and then take him to his first ever pool hall "Malarkey's".

So now your saying, "what does this website have to do with that", well I'm going to tell you.

I would have never had known about the Championships being in Tacoma if it wasnt for the AZ'rs giving me the link to onthebreaknews.

I would have never thought about taken my son to Marlarkey's seeing how I have heard some "not so good" things about the place in the past, but from what I have read about it lately, the place seems like it has really changed for the better.

I just hope that when we get to Marlarkey's that we get the chance to hit a couple of balls on the table that RKC refurbished for them.

If any AZ'rs are at the Championships or at Marlarkey's don't be a stranger, I will be the 6" 2', half bald, 275lb guy with his 11 year old son in tote.

Thank You AZBilliards.

Great post my friend---I hope it is a great experience for the both of you. Your son will be sitting your great grandchildren on his knee and talk'n 'bout his daddy.

Maybe Don will invite you to join him at the mic...that should thrill your son!

6ft. 2in. 275 lbs.

From your description of yourself , even if there are some bad guys there your son is well protected!!

Way to go. I wish my father had done the same for me.

Thank you for the kind comments on me being a good dad, I try my best.

Well my son had a great time and he asked me on the way home if there are any billiards tables in the area which made me real happy that he actually showed interest in the game. Unfortunately the closest table is 2 1/2 hours away so I had to break that bad news to him. But it actually turned out to be good news because we decided to make a plan to go on a father/son monthly trip to either a pool hall or a place that has a billiards table within a three hour radius. We both are pretty excited about it.

Went to Marlakey's and found out you had to be 21 to go in, dang, thought I did my research prior to going and there website said fun for all ages so I assumed that meant under 21. My son was bummed, but that was alright because we both were a little bit tired.

I did go into Malarkey's and saw the table the RKC refurbished, wow, just amazing what he does and the owner of Malarkey's should be commended on making the smart business decision to get the Brunswicks refurbished. RKC was there doing another table but he was out in his truck talking on the phone so I didn't get a chance to tell him that in person but I did at least get the chance to put a face to the name.

As for pictures from the Billiards Championships, I dropped the ball on that one, my cell phone battery died because I let my son use it to search the internet on the way down there. Sorry AZ'rs, I feel bad about that because I enjoy the pics that you all post from tournaments around the nation. Butif it makes you feel any better, my son and I had a blast on the drive down laughing our butts off at the funny videos on youtube.

All the Billiard players were amazing, they make it look so easy. If anyone would like to watch them, onthebreaknews was there streaming it for the rest of the weekend.
