What are the differences between TAP & APA leagues

No reason to be Mad. Pool is the greatest game in the world.

You have nothing to contribute Mr Banks.
You can not say what the differences may be...
Have you tried X Box? I hear its really neat gizmo..u should try that.

I hope your Mom at least charges you for utilities, so that one day you might make it out in the real world.

You're right, I can't say what the differences are. I can, though, tell you that you're trying to lie to people. At least my mom raised me properly.

Edit: It's also amusing that somebody using "u should" is attempting to give me a lesson in being an adult.

You keep agreeing with us...so are you lying now?

If you need somebody to explain it to you, go ask Sam. You two really didn't like being called out on the misleading information you were trying to give everybody. What else isn't honest about TAP?

you're even gonna nit me on texting/thread grammar...lol
Its 2014, perhaps u should get up out of that basement and take a long walk and reflect upon the path that led you to this point.

Why won't you talk about the false information that you were trying to put out there?

Specifically? what are you referring to?
What "False Information" have I been trying to put out there?

Also TAP is call pocket and No slop. It has been scientifically proven that slop stunts the growth of your game. Its a fact.

I also want to point out that at TAP's nationals teams are paid in cash/check and the full amount that is posted. I have been told that the APA national 8 ball winners in 2013 received approx. $18,000 of the $25,000 advertised. The rest was prizes such as jackets, trophies, cues, etc. and these were deducted off the total prize money posted. I am guessing full blown retail too. In fact, one TAP licensee actually was shown the receipt (these players were some of her TAP players as well) that the player received a key chain and this was deducted from the money. Really? A key chain? Amazing. Not publicly saying this is right or wrong. You make the call BUT........With TAP, you get the full amount posted. No hidden agendas.

PS...Ask any TAP player at the Rally this year if they had to pay for their trophies from the prize money they won.

No problem posting as "fact" information that you have no proof of, especially since it's bad information. APA also paid me in cash last year. The jacket, as has always been, is considered $100 of the $200 last place money you get when you arrive, not including travel reimbursement money depending on your location.

Let's do the math....TAP paid out $10,000 CASH (not prizes) to our nationals champion this past year.

APA paid out $25,000 in cash included in this is PRIZES.

We both can agree on this, correct?

Since it was said that the $25k did not include prizes.. nope, incorrect.

That teams payout receipt was posted on FB, and if I remember correct was $18,007 after the taxes and jackets, patches, pens and other goodies were deducted from the advertised 25K Payout. But that doesn't really matter now does it. It was an amateur tourney paying a first place team 18K in Cash, which seem pretty neat until you consider this Mr Banks..

<snip>

At the 2013 Nationals, for first place, every $1.00 TAP paid out? the APA would have only paid 0.22 cents.

Still pushing the incorrect $18k.

In TAP 1st,2nd, 3rd pace teams and a wildcard from every division qualify to play the League Championships (Titleholders).

Not every division has a wildcard.

OK Mr Banks, Lets just say APA Paid out 25K cold hard cash, o taxes no jackets and key chains...Ill believe you. $25,000 to first in APA. Yup..I'm a liar...lol

Now lets just say that APA only had just 650 teams...

After all that..TAP pays out $1.00 and APA .38 cents.

The thought of hitting 800 teams was not ignorant Mr Banks, it was a theoretical analogy, which you seem to be entangled in.

How did APA go to paying almost double by cutting out less than 20% of the teams? Must be some kind of new California math.

I didn't say it was ignorant to hit 800 teams. I implied that, from what I understand, a round-robin format of 800 teams would put the APA's tournament length in its shadow.

Banks...Im giving it to you, $25,000 COLD HARD CASH TO THE WINNER!! ITS A FACT!!!

But EVEN THEN, they still pay back less than half of TAP. Can you even do math?

No need to be discussing anyone's rears

Oh, and im not in charge. Im a skill level 5 in 8 Ball..

Oh yeah, I can do math alright. No need to "give" me anything. You were wrong. Now you're saying "paid back less than half"? We were talking about nationals. Nobody is charged for nationals, from what I know. They play their way there. In my area, you also get almost $2k for winning the cities/tricup bracket to go to regionals.

I'm always game.

We are talking Nationals Payout comparisons, nothing else. We cant compare what APA players might possibly make at the local levels at these tri cup events as TAP wont make their players jump through those types of hoops.

I stated my facts and you finally agreed.

Good day sir, and you have the 8 out..

If we're talking national payout comparisons, you flat out lose. They may take more off the top from dues and weeklies, but their nationals are large enough to win on this one.

You're a TAP 5 and telling me I have the 8. That's funny stuff right there.

But the point was that TAP has a more Direct rout to Nationals, which it does..........

That's why I play APA for fun and when I consider Vegas, I play the singles event.

He's made comparisons using numbers from APAs own website..and you won't even acknowledge him on this. You just keep spinning a structurally flawed web of doubt and suspicion over everything anyone says about TAP.

No, he's using numbers that he's just throwing out there. I'm not questioning anything but those that are pushing information that's contrary to what I know.

Specifically? what are you referring to?
What "False Information" have Sam and I been spreading?

Sorry, took me a while to quote while trying to deal with a hold-up on cutting over a million dollars in checks.

I contribute knocking down false statements and you gave me plenty to aim at.

Spend less time misleading people online and spend more time practicing. 5 offering me a spot.. now I know you don't mean what you say.

You really aren't good at public relations.... I hope you realize this. Everything you have done in this thread has made bad impressions regarding your product.

You could very well have the best product in the world, but when you speak publically in the manner you have used today, you make your company look bad. Why would people want to try a product run by someone who denigrates people in public?

Very poor form.

You're not losing anything where I'm concerned, as there isn't any TAP near here.

All I know is that Mark Griffin can have a discussions here regarding his competitors, and do so in a civil, respectful, professional manner. You could do well to learn from him.

I'm a pool player first and app designer second so I'm not sure why you're dragging a pool icon into this.

Read the thread, I'm not misleading anyone. I am guilty in engaging in a dialog and becoming frustrated with an azb member that has no experience in TAP.

You're right, Ill try and watch the short comments. My Apologies if you, or anyone else was offended.

I Guess the simple answer is play both and decide for yourself. Have a nice evening.

Banks ..you mentioned cheaters in TAP

Banks...Let me address what you said about the cheaters. As for all the rest, I have no interest in getting into that anymore since it isn't going anywhere but I will say my last thoughts on all of this and then I am out of here.

The APA banned some 9 ball players almost 2 years ago that were also TAP members. I did not ban them at this time because what players do in other leagues does not mean they did anything wrong in TAP. Other leagues will not dictate what I do. I also have many banned players from TAP playing in the APA and NAPA now. They allow them into their league and no one says a word about that...Hmm.

But let's get to the present day...Last September I banned all but one of these players for life from TAP for reasons I wont get into here. The other has kept his nose clean because he knows and saw what happened to the others. Not like the APA or BCA did for 2 years. With me it's for life. Guess where most of them are now? Playing in NAPA. The only league that will have them.

I will give any player the benefit of the doubt and a second chance. But once they screw up they are gone and gone for good. In another year (if they pay the money back which is owed to the APA which I highly doubt they will) they will be allowed back into the APA and if Mark let's them in the BCA. Good luck with that. They will need it. (The BCA league here went under so they have to travel a good distance to the nearest one) so it looks like they will be stuck and probably cheating in NAPA. Their problem not mine. Mark approached me at the TAP sales booth last year at the SBE and he explained his position and I explained mine. I suggest to him now if he is reading this not to let those players in the BCA at all based on my past experience. Like I said...I give anyone a 2nd chance but these players don't deserve any from any other leagues. Live and learn.

Also...someone posted Mark can have a discussion on here. Come on. You guys blasted him in the past too. Who you kidding? That is why I seldom get on here and post. Many of you people like to take shots at people doing things in the industry that you can't or won't even try to do. So you kick them around for little things like a typo since that makes you feel better in your own lives.. Get a life... I been doing this for 17 years and I think I have a bit of knowledge on the sport. But compared to what you people THINK you know, well why try arguing with you. Its simply a waste of everyone's time. A perfect example is how you go after Runout Apps. He and his partner are making and refining a app for score keeping that blows anything out there away. In fact there is nothing out there even close to it but you guys come after him a like a buzzard on road kill. Invest your money in a dream and idea like he did and then come on here. I am sure the rest will pick you to the bone too. Pick your game...pick you league and go play pool. Nothing else matters. But quit knocking the people that got off their ass and made a difference in the industry. I personally have spent countless hours promoting pool and TAP. I have done countless charity events for people I didn't even know while taking weekends away from my family. I have helped run TAP's national and Rally events for years. I also promote and direct the largest league events in Western Pa. all the while moving my own tables in and out of locations and still doing it even though I will be 60 years old this year. You try it and see how long you last. I took a chance with my own money and I put my rep on the line when no one else would and became the the first TAP licensee in Pa. in a state that now is covered with TAP. I have dealt with and got screwed over by hotels, players and anyone else trying to make a buck off of my hard work. Get off your asses and try doing what I did the past 17 years and maybe we can talk on equal terms. Until then, you guys have a lot of catching up to do. I made my bones over the years. What have you done except sit at a computer.

While this thread has been up the last few days, I sold two new areas that will be coming into TAP. Guess where they played before? Yep, the APA.

Lastly...because I am done with this thread.....I spoke to the TAP licensee in La. that saw the receipts that the winners from the APA had on those key chains. Yes, I was told so I didn't see it personally but she did. I trust this lady and I know she wouldn't make this up. I mean, really...how could someone make that up? I dont spread lies or false info on here. I believe what she said as the truth. She was suppose to sign on here and post. She has been waiting to get activated so until then I am not going to say anything else but still waiting to know where that $3,000,000 went? I didn't just throw numbers out there like you say. I used numbers from the APA site...Here is what they have on their home page.....The American Poolplayers Association (APA) is the World's Largest Amateur Pool League. With more than 270,000 members throughout the United States, Canada and Japan, the APA awards over $1.5 Million in guaranteed prize money every year during the APA national championships in Las Vegas...and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and cut it by more then half because you and I both know this is not ACTIVE members or is it? Kind of misleading isn't it?... If you want to use their numbers then it's over 270,000 members and that would equate to double or more then $6,000,000!!! So what is it Banks? Over 270,000 and over 6 million or is it not? Who is lying and spreading false info now and if it is true then I ask you again....Where the hell is the $6,000,000? If they have 270,000 members that would equate to $6,750,000 just in yearly dues and not even counting weekly team fees....WOW! ...So I ask you again...Show me the $6,000,000?

Until you answer this question then anything you post is meaningless to me.

Guess we will never know, huh Banks?

God bless and TAP On!

God bless and TAP On!

sam it seems obvious to me you are very passionate about tap and your operation... i think thats a good thing. i wish all lo's were as passionate about their franchises as you seem to be.

but.... you go a lil over board putting down other leagues while trying to make yours look better.

run out ain't helping matters either when he starts hurling personal insults.

i recall when you caught quite a bit of flack on here about not kicking those players out of your league when they got caught cheating in apa.

your line of reasoning is ...they did nothing wrong in my league.well they finally did wrong in your league and you kicked them out.

i dont think you realize it makes you look bad ...or hypocritical... to be bashing napa for allowing these players in their league after you kicked them out of yours. maybe the napa lo thinks the same way you do...they aint done nothing wrong in his league yet so why kick them out just becauese you did.

do you see the hypocrisy of bashing napa for doing the same thing you did? i think if you toned down your bashing of other leagues while trying to build yours up people on here might be more receptive of what you have to say.

now i don't expect you to be like my lo's around here but it would be nice if you did not show such disdain for other leagues.

take my napa and apa lo's in my area. they talk to each other quite a bit and co ordinate their tournys so they dont interfere with each other as much as possible.
there are quite a few players here who play in both leagues and neither lo has a problem with that. as a matter of fact the napa lo is my co captain of the apa double jeapordy team i am captain of. he also plays in apa masters. you will never hear either lo trash talk about another league the way you have.

and kudos to run out for his response to dubs post.

forgot to mention the napa lo and i are playing in an apa captain - co captain scotch doubles tournament this weekend. 40.00 entry with 100% payback.

as i stated in the post above he not only gets along with the apa lo he plays in apa.

thinking about getting my apa lo to join my napa team.:grin-square:

i cant believe some lo's would stoop to kick players out of their league if they played on another league. like some of ya'll stated. thought it was stupid where some one said a lo made some one take their shirt from another league inside out.just proves what i have said many times on here....ain't nothing really wrong with any league....its the lo's that make it a good or bad league.

i wear apa shirts to napa and napa shirts to apa quite a bit and no one says nothing.
