What brand of tip is best?

I'm sure this has been a topic in the past, so I apologize to those who may find this repetitive. I plan on replacing my Hercules tip at the Super Billiards Expo. Are Moori tips really worth the money? Is there a different, less expensive, brand of layered tip that you would recommend instead of the Moori? Thanks for your input.

Talisman Medium, but it is always interesting to hear from the others...haven't tried Moori...out of my budget...

Moori's are great I have one on my Josswest , Meucii & Joss I love them I had so may problem with all the other tips that finally i broke down a spent the extra money to get them put on... Before I switched over I miss cued all the time and since I had them put on I haven't. They hold chalk very well and I've never had to put a shaper to them ... I think the extra money is worth it

Moori's are great. last longer than the non-layered tips. Plus it doesn't mushroom up. Mine lasted for months probably even a year. For non-layered tips i like triangle. Although it will mushroom up in time. At first the Moori wasn't holding chalk well....dunno why but in time it did. Which is probably why i miscued alot in the beginning..but overall a good tip.

Try this with the holding chalk deal and don't think I'm crazy but try this you can lick your thumb and wipe the chalk off of your tip then rechalk it while it's still damp ....and i said damp not wet rechalk it make sure it covers well and it holds better just make sure that you don't make a paste ontop of your tip ... the little bit of moisture makes it hold better .....

The two best tips? The one you used to have and the one you're fixing to get. :D

Seriously, this is too subjective as any answer is going to be based on what the respondent is partial to. The best tip in reality is what works for you. Unless you are delving in moori they are not that expensive. Try one for a while to give yourself time to really evaulate it's performance, maybe even make yourself some type of chart or log. Then after a few months try another. Naturally you are looking at charting over a fair amount of time but unless you are an old fart (like me) you probably have quite a few years left to shoot so why not spend the time to determine what you shoot best with - not what others shoot best with.

All that said - I don't care for layered tips.

I hear they lowered the price for Moori.....why is it that it's still $50 here. I could buy a sneaky pete dufferin cue for that price.

Each person who puts a tip on has his own service charge. I had three put on at $20 a pop. If you have a lathe and you know how to put one on they cost about $10 each. Average cost here to put a Moori on a stick is $35 - $45

I recommend Talisman Pro in either Soft, Medium of Hard, depending on your preference. They hold their shape, hold chalk well and have no mushroom problems.

Layered tips cost more due to the extra cost of manufacturing.
They cost more to install due to the extra caution required to do the job correctly.

The first time I used my new Moori 3 (med) tip I miscued several times as well. Now I chalk up every shot in my pre-shot routine and rarely miscue. I've tried Le pro and Tiger Sniper tips in the past and the Moori 3 is by far the best tip I've ever used and definitly worth the money.I had mine installed and shaped professionally (lathe) which I was told was very important. The $35.00 (Canadian) I spent was well worth it. RJ

i dont think as long as you use a layered tip no matter which one you cant go wrong......juston coleman

here's my opinion. the question who makes the best tip. is one of the most important posts here. great question. i've tried many, many laminated tips, i have come to the conclusion they all suck. eventually you play on the glue in between the layers, and your game suffers terribly from the miscues and uneven wear. my favorite tip is a triangle from tweeten fibre co. a hard tip that is NON-laminated. zero miscues, and instant feedback of hit. try it, and see.

Best idea for Moori's. Go on ebay. there is a guy that is out of Springfield, IL that sells batches of 10 Moori III's for $89.00. Shipping is free. Get a few guys together and split the cost. Then pay a guy with a lathe $10 to put it on or learn yourself. My moori is the best tip that I've played with. Some like Talisman and Brandon at Jacoby Cues said that either are really good. His opinion is that Moori and Talisman are the best tips out there.
