Well desperate times call for desperate measures...

What is the cheapest cloth that will play decent and last a while?

How much of it would I need to cover 4 valley 7' bar boxes?

Can old beat up rubber be revived in any way?

We have nowhere to play here in my town because the bar owners dont care about pool........We have a place with 6 bar boxes that have been neglected since the late 90's <---- no joke...no maintaining sine 98-99...The bar owner refuses to put any money into the tables so I'm trying to figure out if its worth while trying to band the pool player together and fix them our selves (how could a bar owner refuse that?)...I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to working on a table so I need to know just about anything you guys feel like sharing...

Thanks

Shaun

Fixing a barbox

Pictures of the tables, will help out in getting you the best info, out there to make your project easier.

Ridgeback Rails are a solid choice, but many people also like Penguin Amusement rails. I've had positive experiences with both.

I also recommend Championship Mercury Ultra. You should be able to find it for under $100/table. It comes with and without backing. The unbacked version will play a bit faster. Frequent brushing will cause it to play a little slower, as it raises the fibers of the cloth. However, it should last quite a while. Using a vacuum, instead of a brush, may help the life of it.

I would also recommend the Simonis cloth installation DVDs, if you plan to do the work yourself. And if you get the backed cloth, make sure you peel the backing off from the rail cloth.

I'd suggest looking for another bar where the owner gave a damn.
:D

For now we have done exactly that and found a place to run my weekly tourney to get us by until we can get this place to fix the tables. The place that has the torn up tables is the only place in town that has more than two tables...(one other bar has 3 but its too tight of quarters...walls, chairs and counters to contend with)
