What cue are you using?

Greetings Keith McCready,

I have read in a couple of places how you give some credit to your recent strong run to a new cue and shaft you are using. What are you shooting with now? Also what is the shaft diameter and what kind of tip?

Thanks,

Wally

P.S. I really enjoyed your column in Inside Pool titled "El Jugo"

Thanks for your kind words about "El Jugo."

I have a Bobby Hunter cue stick with a skinny butt and a 16-inch taper on the shaft. I like to nickel my tips and have been using either soft Mouri or Triangle tips.

I usually get my tips shaved down low because I can move the cue-ball around a lot better, but I have to replace the tip almost every tournament because of it.

Keith, last time I saw you play, you were using the SledgeHammer break cue. Are you still using it ? What is your honest opinion about them. I have noticed a lot of top players are using them. Good or not?

Hi, Don. Well, as far as my Sledgehammer break cue, I like it because it's also a jump cue. I'm able to jump balls the same way that everybody else does. Every time I see somebody pull out a jump cue, I shrivel up in my chair and just want to throw up because I know or I feel they will make it.

Back in the '70s and '80s, these instruments were not allowed, but as you see, nowadays you must have a jump cue, and the Sledgehammer is my choice as far as jumping balls and I feel is the best.
