You're right, I think you do get what I mean. Man-made could probably have been the exact term that I should have used. Shrink, expand, reacted to, sanded easier than adjacent material or what ever reason. You learn of it when you actually use it.

Exactly, you can read and watch all the books and video's you want. They are great for starting out, but nothing like getting you hands dirty.
