What custom cuemaker is better in your opinion?

Hi Friends,

I am in the market to buy another cue for myself. A couple days ago i asked which cue is better, Joss or Schon or maybe a custom cue. I already own a custom cue and i love it, but wanted something new with maybe some points, ivory...etc. my cue now is very basic, a cocobolo wrap with stained birdseye maple forearm...love the cue. anyways. I took a look at Jacoby cues and i absolute love their style...but i don't want to purchase a cue without knowing my options. I am looking to spend about $750...maybe a little bit more (probably!) if i find the right cue. anyways...what are some other custom cuemakers i should look into before making this decision..i've looked up Ray Schuler, Carolina Custom, Jay Peschaeur,....Come on pro's...let me know what's up.

Thanks again...

cues

You are welcome to visit my website and view my custom efforts. While I don't have the world renown of some of the people you have mentioned I do make a high quality player's cue. You may also visit my vendor space (downstairs with the ICA group) at the Super Billiards Expo in March and hit balls and compare value. Thanks for the chance to show my efforts.

Sir. Welcome to the forums. I can see that you have a long road ahead of you. That road can be an expensive one if you are not careful. The wife may end up asking you to leave. I know it's come close for me several times already.

You are just going to have to suck it up and buy a cue that looks good to you. Most of the custom cue makers will offer cues that hit very well, but there is no 'best' just tiers of makers. There are absolute masters like Ernie Gutierrez, who has mastered just about anything there is when it comes to cues, and there are other people like me who are on the up and up. I am not going to sit here and list other people's names, but I am sure you will figure it out soon enough.

I wish you the best of luck, and it is not about what anyone else thinks. It is all about what you think and like the best. Start with the F/S section and just keep browsing that until you find something that appeals to you and fire away. That is all you can do, one cue at a time. Good luck.

There are lots of makers that could probably hook you up for that price. If there is any chance that you can swing by the Derby City Classic next month, there will be thousands of cues there, and something surely will satisfy you. Good Luck

You have a number of parameters that you are looking to fulfill in a new custom cue. It would be difficult to come up with an answer with what you have described. A number of cue makers come to mind as fitting the better echelon of custom builders some of which are Dennis Searing, Bender, Schick, Szamboti and of coarse a plethora of others. This would take care of half of your question but the other half really limits your choices. Both points and ivory can add a lot to the final cost. Cues are priced with 3 parameters in mind - The demand of the builder, the cost of material and the time invested in the final product. You can probably find some one to build your dream cue but I don't believe that it will fall into the parameters that you have submitted.
