What do we need in a suitcase style Cue Case?

In another thread we were talking about shoulder straps for cases. I use the Talisman case now, simply because I felt it was the best one of the stand-up, tube-like cases. I really like the suit case style cases, but I have never found one that suited my needs. I suggested we write to Talisman or any case maker for that matter and see if they could make a suitcase, flip-up style case that fits our needs.

I would want one with a wide enough and long enough section for accessories. Most of these are just too small. I like to carry all the stuff I would need when playing in my case.

Since we are picking options I would also want a way to seal up or cover that section in the case if it were left open. Maybe a zippered section built in the case, or a removable boxed section?

What would you guys want?

I am not the guy to ask

about suitcase style cases. My first case was one
with dark green leather as a matter of fact. I hated
everything about it. It was like carrying a piece of
wood around. The cue was not real easy to get out.
No pocket room. Get chalk on your hands trying to
get a piece out from the very end. And, to me, you
don't look like a real Poolplayer with one. IMO, they
are just cases left over from an era gone by that
really don't fit the needs of a serious player today.

Wow, after reading that, I'd say you could most successfully kill the thread and idea. :D

Talisman is a pretty Great Design

You do the R & D, write Talisman have them build a Prototype, and they you test it out, refine it to Perfection. Than some BOZO will tell you what they dislike about your Design.

Perfect Case for Everyone. No Such Thing IMO....:D

Talisman is a pretty Great Design though.

my first real case was suitcase- style, but it was an antique, hard brown leather round deal with three buckle straps that looked very nice. Not like the cheapie musical instument boxes we see everywhere. (Sometimes one like mine comes up on ebay and I'm always looking for the one broken buckle just in case it's the s.o.b. who broke into my car.)

Changes: yes, I'd have a pocket for stuff at the end- whether inside or out of the regular cue area. A removable boxed section sounds nice.

I'd also have metal rings at each end for the option of a shoulder strap.

Mine was a 1b/2s case- I'd need at the very least 2b2s now.

I think the Schmelkes are the best of this type case.

I just went and looked at those. I didn't see an area for accessories. That seems to be the big hang up for me.

Yes back pack straps should be a must as far as an option.

I was also thinking of some of that heavy duty rubber around the corners, so it won't scratch stuff when put down, or hurt you head if wearing it like a back pack.

Schmelkes have an accessory area at the end of the shaft storage. It's about 2"X2"X4".

I use a lucasi 1x2 box style case, It's got room for SOME stuff. I got my Capone in that case I like it, here's a photo of the case, and no that is not my Capone, I just got this of a site. with Jp's on, the cue fits in real nice. IMO
