What do you do?

i found myself in a horrible slump just a few months back, it started by getting beat by someone who normally doesn't do that good against me, so i went back the next night to just shoot with friends and when i was down in my stance i was thinking in my head on every shot that "i'm gonna miss", this went on for what seemed like weeks, i kept going almost every night cause i was getting pissed at myself, finally my wife told me to take a break, it was actually making me hard to deal with, i found myself grouchy with her and the kids and probably made a few customers mad. so i locked my gameroom up and gave my wife the keys, and told her to not let me in there for a couple weeks, and i also kept myself off every table in town. within 2 to 3 weeks it was killing me, so i went to my gameroom and everything just seemed so much smoother, within a few hours i was out on the town and shooting better than i had in years, guess it's all just a mental thing, keep telling yourself you'll miss or you'll not get any better and thats bound to be the outcome, a little breather never hurt anyone.

Let me ask a question. Is the only time your friends play in league or in tournaments?
If it is then what they need is quality practice time by themselves. I used to practice two hours for every one hour I played someone.
During practice, I would work on the shots I missed when I was playing another player or shots I didn't have confidence in.
One of the main things I worked on was basically target pool by throwing a piece of paper on the table, setting up shots and hitting the paper.
Don't make practice a grind either. It should be R & R for the brain to build confidence for when the pressure is on.
