What do you think about graphite cues?

It's the finish that makes graphite cues sticky. Pure graphite is an excellent lubricant. I don't know why Cuetec and other "advanced materials" cuemakers can't come up with a finish that matches polished wood.

You appear to be the only objective voice on here. I thought that graphite was ideal for a break cue. I was thinking of mounting a G-10 or G-11 tip on a graphite cue for a super break cue. I'm currently having pretty good success with my Sledgehammer (phenolic).

I thought this might be like moving from a 357-mag to a "dirty Harry" 44

Please respond to my speculative ignorance gently.

I started out with a graphite cue and didn't have any problems using it with an open bridge. I also didn't like breaking with it because even though it was only graphite I was still thrilled about having my own cue with which to learn and grow my game on and I didn't want to damage the tip. I took pride in it, and treated it like it was worth a thousand dollars, because to me it was. So you can bash graphite all you want, but for a beginner like myself at the time it played great for my skill level, it was straight, and it was mine.

What playing cue & break cue are you currently using?

My playing cue is a Dominiak WD1020 with an OB-1 shaft and Sniper tip. My break cue is actually the butt of the graphite with a hard maple shaft and Tiger break tip. Eventually I will get a regular break or a jump/break, but for now my "Franken-cue" does the job. I want to get a nice case first! :)
