What do you think of custom cues from Taiwan, or cues made in Taiwan, in general?

Anything from Taiwan is usually slightly better than the same stuff from Mainland China.

certainly true about the old drill presses and bandsaws, that i remember were dismissed as taiwanese junk at the time

The custom cues from Taiwan are just as good as any other custom maker. The majority of them are modeled after SW and TAD.

Go into most pool halls and you'll find various custom, SW, Tad, and Mezz available.

I used to travel there for work and I can definitely say that the level of competition in any room is much higher on average than we see here in the states.

Take a look at North Demon Custom Cues, I think they are North China but could possibly have some Taiwan presence as well. Pretty fancy stuff that is up there with all the other high end cue makers.

i'm guessing now, but by the looks of them lucasi is probably not a budget brand anymore. agree they were brilliant for their price back then.

ND is all northern mainland, you're right (you should see his workshop, it's sick!) - Most (if not all) cues "made in TW" have some parts or production elements sourced in mainland. Even famous big brands like ZEN.
