What do you think this case might be worth?

One of my advertisers for All About Pool made this for me several years ago. It is certainly one of a kind. It is all hand-tooled leather. I can't remember who it was that actually made it and my records are all gone now. I was thinking of selling it on this site and/or Ebay but I want to get value. I'm a bit out of touch and looking for you opinion what it might be worth. The cap has Bob Campbell inscribed on one side and All About Pool on the other. The shoulder strap really can't be used, it is just decorative. It is a 2x4 case. The zipper pockets function. The design work is beautiful.

Well, you know for sure it's made by an unknown maker that is not known for making cases. So you have a case by an unknown maker who is not known by people who know who the known makers are.

Or something like that. :D :D :D :D

Ooops Sorry!

That wasn't supposed to post! I tried downloading pictures but I kept getting the message that my file was too big! I'm an old guy and I can't figure out how to post. Anyway, for the very clever guy that was talking about it being from an "unknown" case maker, reread my post. I said I couldn't remember who did it. I don't have the records any longer. It was made probably 8-10 years ago. If you send me an email, I will email you back the pictures....THAT I know how to do!:D aaboutpool@aol.com

So the case is made by a known maker, you just don't know who the known maker is.

But if you don't know who the known maker is, how do you know it is a known maker?

:D :D

I sent you an email, mail me the pictures and I will post them for you.

Here are the pictures

Good Looking case, but the name on the lid cuts the value 50%-75% of what it would be worth to most buyers (unless you have a US Open title hidden somewhere) :(

I'd think I'd be happy getting more than a hundred; two hundred would probably be hard to get, but maybe. JMO

...why would you want to sell such a beautiful and personalized case? Ain't you got kids you could sell for a couple hundred bucks? Lol... :p

I tried that already!

Apparently they were worth less on the open market than I thought also! :D
Actually, since I closed my poolroom, I really don't play much anymore. It just sits in the corner....

I agree with all the previous posts. This is a very personalized case from an unknown maker. And as Jeff wrote, even if we knew the maker, we still wouldn't know the maker

Based on the construction, we know it's NOT a KNOTT; the tooled Flowers are not by FLOWERS; and I'll be Swift to claim it's not a SWIFT. :p

In the early 90's there was a guy in Atlanta who made a few cases and this construction looks like his work. His name was "STURDIVANT", if memory serves.

If you really want to get top dollar, take it to a Shoe Repair Shop and have them clean and treat the leather, polish it up and tighten all the hardware - especially the strap and that funny sideways pocket (that stuff will fall out of.)

But even then, $200.00 would be a stretch, IMO.

Someone will buy it because it's unique, but I have a feeling this case has more value to you then it would to a potential buyer.

Good Luck! Happy Holidays!

I knew Dennis Sturdivant pretty well and I don't think it is one of his cases.

possibly an old porper case.... i think tate has an example of one on his site..

i just looked at it.. its different... but you never now.. it could be an earlier version of somebodies work...

Nope, not them

It is not a Sturdavent or one of Joe Porper cases. Now I have to clunk around the basement and try to find the issues with the ads in them! But you guys answered my question. If it had been $300 or more I was going to put it up, but I guess I'll just make it an umbrella holder. By the way, the little pocket on the top is actually for business cards. The piece of leather that appears to be loose slides into the strap. It works quite well actually.Thank you for your help everyone. Thanks Jeff for posting the pictures for me.

If it turns out to be an early model made by known maker 'xxx' , it could have some type of collectible value. Especially once that known maker stops producing, kind of like how everything elvis is now worth a lot.
