Any body remember razzle?? I use to play it all the time with the older poolplayers at the pool hall i hung at but you hardly ever see it anymore.......1ball 5 ball are partners, 5,8,10,13,and 15 are "money balls"etc,etc,etc..........................Ahhhhhhhhh memories.........:)

Oh yeah. I've won and lost quite a bit of money playing that damn game :D

RAZZLE!!!!!

Haven't heard anyone mention that game since I was a teenager on the Lower East Side of NY.

Played it every weekend, it's played like rotation, except you don't have to hit the lowest ball first, you can pocket any ball as long as you MOVED the lowest ball during the shot. Meaning you can pocket the fifteen ball (fifteen points and a money ball), and draw back to hit the one ball and it counted. Played with four people, whomever pocketed the one and five balls became automatic partners. Usually played a buck a scratch and also per money ball, or less.:D

Lots of fun.

Yup, that's razzle all right! Glad you liked enjoyed it also.

I have found it to be quite a challenge to type in the rules,
in such a way that it becomes easy to read and understand.

You covered some of the basics though...

Four is the ideal, and most enjoyable number of players, due to
the partnerships that are formed on-the-fly, each game.

I never enjoyed it unless four players were involved, but I did play with only two or three.
 
Funny I didn't see this thread before, maybe before I signed on. There was another thread about it, didn't know anyone outside of the Southern Tier of New York played it until I read that thread. We played with the 12 as a money ball, if memory serves me. Other than that, as described.

Ah yes, this brought back come memories. The room Whitey and I played in had razzle games quite often. Been years since I thought of those. I did not play for money with the guys there so sat out, but they sure liked that game. It felt a bit like 3-ball, a fun little gambling game you play with friends for cheap stakes.

I have made some revisions to the rules, in the rule thread.

I'm probably still forgetting some stuff, and I'm not 100% positive about the racking pattern. I do want to get that correct, before I create the diagram.
